Rewatchable Bollywood Movies: Being in India, ‘Cinema’ holds a unique spot in our heart. Moreover, Bollywood adds a pinch of drama in our everyday lives. Bollywood movies are fun to watch, and hence the audience remains glued to the screen despite watching a particular film several times. I have no shame to express that watching Hum Saath Saath Hai, and Hum Aapke Hai Kaun has been my guilty pleasure since forever.

Comedy and Romance are popular genres in India. According to research, the most-watched movies in India are comedies. So, the following list is a mixture of Top 20 Most Rewatchable Bollywood Movies of All Time you don’t want to miss. Also, I am excluding the classics like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and DDLJ because is there anyone who haven’t watched those movies yet?

Chupke Chupke (1975)

Starring – Dharmendra & Amitabh Bachchan
Director – Hrishikesh Mukherjee

Hrishikesh Mukherjee was the King of Comedies and entertaining stories back in the day. Chupke Chupke also gifted us with the lead pair, Dharmendra and Amitabh Bachchan at their career-best. However, rumours are floating around about the remake of this film and Rajkummar Rao playing the role of Dharmendra. I hope they don’t ruin a classic.

Gol Maal (1979)

Hrishikesh Mukherjee, 40 years ago back fought the system not violently, but with his lighthearted movies in his signature style. A simple story revolving around fake identities is a pure laugh riot and is still the Best Film made on a middle-class Indian. Gol Maal is a movie with the characters who are lying, a comedy of confusion, and a joyful end. It is beauty in its purest form.

Andaz Apna Apna (1994)

The iconic duo of ‘Khans,’ we are dying to see them share the screen again because when they do, magic is bound to happen, similar to this classic. Comedy as its foremost genre, this movie kills us with bouts of laughter after every scene and every dialogue. Believe it or not, but, it’s been 19 years since the release of Hera Pheri. And without a doubt, the film is just as funny as it was when it first released. From our beloved Babu Bhaiya’s ‘Chaamaila’ to the ever-entertaining ‘Devi Prasad Hai?’ this movie left no stones unturned to make us laugh like a kid. Not to forget, Paresh Rawal was the gem to the film.

Dil Chahta Hai (2001)

An epic tale about three inseparable childhood buddies who are just out of their colleges, the people who made Goa uber cool for all of us. The boys driving from Mumbai to Goa was one trip we still envy. Farhan Akhtar made his directorial debut with this critically acclaimed movie which taught us a lot of different things on many levels. For us millennials, it was a motivational coming of age sports drama because of ‘Kuch paane ki ho aas aas, Koi arman ho Jo khas khas…’ You have sung it, right? In a cricket-loving country, watching a guy called Iqbal who grows up to eat, sleep and live cricket is a pure treat to the eyes. The story does not have any twist and turns. It is to Kukunoor’s credit that he still holds the audience interest right down to the last ball.

Golmaal Fun Unlimited (2006)

Golmaal has lost its charm, and story with multiple sequels but the first one in the franchise still cracks us up with its silly and slapstick humour. Jab We Met (2007)

Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (2011)

This movie is all about it because Laila once said ‘Seize the day my friend — Pehle is din ko poori tarah jiyo, phir challis ke bare mein sochna.’ Zoya Akhtar is one of the best when it comes to speaking with her scenes in the film (without dialogues). One of the best examples of her brilliant direction is the luggage packing scene at the start of the movie. Without any dialogue, she described her characters by their luggage packing styles.

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013)

It is a happy-go story beautifully weaved into two separate-yet-defining times in the lives of its characters. First, when they are standing on the crossroads of multiple decisions that will shape who and what they will become. And second, in their late-twenties when they meet after years again with a bundle of fulfilled or unfulfilled dreams on a crossroad of another set this time. I can bet that this movie can set your mood up anytime.

Queen (2014)

Starring Kangana Ranaut and Lisa Haydon, Queen is a unique ride filled with bliss, passion, guiltlessness and fearlessness. Accompanied by scenic shots and stirring background music, it is delightful and moving for the most part. Primarily, Kangana gives one of her career-best performance. However, the screenplay was slightly unbalanced, but you shouldn’t miss watching this very delightful movie. One of the most Rewatchable Bollywood Movies.
