5 Bollywood Movies with the Best Climax Scenes: There is nothing like being engrossed in a captivating Bollywood film. Right? We hate it, criticize it, but, it has been our forever guilty pleasure. We don’t feel that a movie is worth the money until we enjoy it thoroughly. Thrillers are an astounding genre of filmmaking as they provide jitters, pep, shockers and most importantly, a twist. The best films are the one which rocks the silver screen with a rare combination of performances, direction, and plotline.

The climax is one of the most significant parts of a film. Whether it lasts for two minutes or twenty, if the climax is compelling, the film will be received in a better way. When it comes to Bollywood films, a lot of hard work is quartered by the filmmakers to ensure that the climaxes are shot right and with a justified end to the story. We picked out a few powerful shots from Bollywood movies that are unforgettable. These shots werenâ€™t just essential for the story, but, they managed to stay in our hearts for longer than usual.

Kahaani (2012)

Kahaani explores the story of Vidya Bagchi. A pregnant woman who comes to Kolkata from London to find her husband who has fled, but everyone she questions denies having ever met him. But, eventually, soon you will realize, that she pretends to be pregnant. As she cleverly uses police officials to nab a criminal responsible for killing her husband and at the same time solves a mystery. Add to it Vidya Balan’s superb portrayal of a pregnant woman, Vidya Bagchi, and you know this is going to be one hell of an amazing ride.

What follows is a head-spinning chain of events that lead to the climax which reveals the truth. In the climax scene, she removes off the aesthetics from her tummy and kills the villain thus giving justice to her unborn child. The script of Kahaani itself is laced with twists and turns that it will keep you glued to the screen. While Vidya Balan royally owned the scene and the film, the climax sent chills down my spine.

Drishyam (2015)

To what extent are you willing to go to save your family? Drishyam is the remake of a Malayalam film by the same name which truly made justice to the original one. It tracks Vijay’s (Ajay Devgn) journey to save his family when the situation goes haywire. What follows is a series of unfortunate happenings which lead the police to arrest Vijay and his family and beat them to the pulp. But, what is the secret that the family is hiding? Would their body break first or their spirit? Does Vijay pull off the biggest upset for police force ever? The answer is ‘buried’ in the climax of the movie.

A Wednesday (2008)

For most first time watchers, the final thirty-odd minutes of A Wednesday were a shocker. What Neeraj Pandey achieved with this film paved his way up the Bollywood ranks. A Wednesday follows a very tried and tested format of narrative which shows a terrorist blackmailing the Mumbai Police into agreeing to his demands. Watch its climax thoroughly to know how a simple phone call can bring the entire city on its toes.

Neeraj Pandey’s writing deserved all the appreciation for the whole film in general, but, the twist at the end was applause-worthy. Explosive dialogues and a common manâ€™s diatribe we all could identify with were the hallmarks of A Wednesdayâ€™s climax. From the moment the bombs under the militantsâ€™ benches go off to the point where Anupam Kher and Naseeruddin Shah run into each other near the under-construction building, A Wednesday keeps you hooked to the events.

Ugly (2013)

Just like the name suggests, Ugly covers the different shades of grey and telecasts the ugliness of society. Writers/directors like Kashyap do not have an audience in their mind when they create movies. They produce their work for themselves, which, in my opinion, brings the best out of any creator of art. We all knew about Kashyapâ€™s special love towards mysteries and thrillers, and this movie is a brilliant example of both.

Ugly is a tale of ordinary lives involved in extraordinary circumstances. It starts with a struggling actor, and his missing child followed by sequences that will make you utterly hate some characters initially. But, as the movie unfolds and characters develop on screen, opinions on most of the characters will gradually change. This change in your behaviour will keep you on the edge of your seat.

15 Park Avenue (2005)

This film revolves around the life of Meethi, played by Konkona Sen Sharma, who suffers from schizophrenia. The storyline follows Meethiâ€™s relationship with her older sister Anjali, played by Shabana Azmi. This movie also won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in English. The story, towards the end, will surely leave you wondering â€“ â€œWhat just happened?â€. Aparna Sen, the director of the movie will leave the ned for the audiences to interpret. It is one of the most twisted ends I ever came across.
