7. The Haunting of Bly Manor

The Haunting of Bly Manor Series Review

Cast – Victoria Pedretti, Oliver Jackson-Cohen
Creator – Mike Flanagan

Genre – Horror

Starring Victoria Pedretti in the lead role, The Haunting of Bly Manor details the story of an American au pair, who goes to take care of two orphaned children in the British countryside. First off, Mike Flanagan has a remarkable way of guaranteeing you care for his characters by enveloping you in their psychological trauma.

Instead of focusing on one character and their backstory over an episode, he uses monologues, a supernatural doppelgänger, and a maze of memories to trace hidden scars. The story isn’t as powerful as the Crain’s family drama, but The Haunting of Bly Manor will stay with you for days. Prepare to have it wring your chest in the same achingly painful, yet intoxicating way. – Zoha Junaid

6. Unorthodox

Unorthodox Best Series on Netflix 2020

Cast – Shira Haas, Amit Rahav
Director – Maria Schrader

Genre – Drama

Unorthodox explores the story of a woman fleeing away from her ultra-orthodox Hasidic Jewish community and trying to find herself in a new world, a secular world that’s free and unbound. Wonderfully executed in all departments right from the screenplay to the spectacular performances and the accurate depiction of a marginalized community, Unorthodox is extremely intriguing in every aspect.

And it is also emotional to see the journey of a woman trying to find a foothold in a new world and also fighting against the family who is hellbent on finding her and bring her back. A must-watch and one of the Best Series on Netflix 2020. – Bhavna (@bhavnatalkies)

Money Heist Season 4

[This excerpt comes from Nirmal’s ‘Money Heist 4’ Review]

Money Heist 4 takes off right where Part 3 ended and devolves into a ton of exciting events taking place inside the Bank of Spain, where the current heist is taking place. On the bright side, it is still one of the best crime dramas out there, and the new season does not compromise on the entertainment factor and takes us all on a roller-coaster ride. Narcos Mexico 2 Review

Cast – Diego Luna & Scoot McNairy

Genre – Crime / Biographical

[This excerpt comes from Surya’s ‘Narcos Mexico 2’ Review]

Narcos Mexico 2 has a thorough grip on the story and narrates a riveting 10-hour drama that is captivating to watch. Despite the slow build, the characters and their side of the storyline carried some intrigue for me to relate, get behind, or rebel against. With quite a few moving pieces and a language that most of the viewers don’t speak, this show requires your attention, and it does a good job keeping you enthralled even if you’re not into crime/thriller genre. And most importantly, Narcos remains as one of the most consistent and must-watch content on Netflix even after a fifth season.

3. The Queen’s Gambit

The Queens Gambit Best Series on Netflix of 2020

Cast – Anya Taylor-Joy, Thomas Brodie-Sangster
Director – Scott Frank

Genre – Coming-of-age / Drama

During the Cold War, a chess prodigy tries to make a name for herself while battling addiction. Based on a novel of the same name by Walter Tevis, The Queen’s Gambit is inspired by real-life events, even though the story is complicated but at the same time, it is very heart breaking. Throughout the entire series, the female lead had to fight her way through the ranks because she was constantly undermined for being a woman.

Also, in the orphanage, they got her addicted to tranquilizers, which was a common practice at the time, and due to their carelessness, she battled with addiction her entire life. It was very inspiring, goes to show that you can achieve whatever you want if you truly devote yourself to it but like at the same time, it shows you that time does not wait for anyone, and that’s the scariest realization of all. – Zoha Junaid (@zohasreviews)

2. Sex Education 2

Sex Education 2 Netflix Review

Cast – Asa Butterfield, Emma Mackey
Creator – Laurie Nunn

Genre – Coming-of-age

Sex Education 2 picks up right where the last season left, with the primary storyline being the love triangle between Otis, Ola, and Maeve. It is a perfect coming-of-age teen comedy that will take you through a range of emotions, entertains, and warms your heart in the last resort. With more emphasis on the existing characters and a narrative that never bores you out, this is one of the, if not the, Best Series on Netflix 2020 available on Netflix that ticks every box that exists. – Surya Komal

1. DARK 3

Dark Season 3 Review

Cast – Louis Hofmann, Lisa Vicari
Creator – Baran bo Odar & Jantje Friese

Genre – Sci-Fi

[This excerpt comes from Surya’s ‘Dark 3’ Review]

Breaking new ground, reinventing, and elevating the concepts of science fiction and time travel altogether, Dark on Netflix is a beast of its own, and one of the most ambitious and enigmatic pieces of art ever put together on-screen. Season 3 of Dark on Netflix explores and utilizes every plausibility to make the story dense, perplexing, compelling and enjoyable to watch.

But, all the brilliant and the astrounding storytelling prospects come with a price as this is not an easy show to sit back and binge. It manages to successfully launch a myriad of curve balls to throw off your game and requires your complete attention consistently.
