2. 15 Park Avenue

15 Park Avenue takes us to a dark philosophical journey. At first, the name of the film seems like an address but as the story unfolds, we realize the thin line that the director tries to walk between Relationships, Social Cause and of course the intense world of Schizophrenia.

3. Shaitan

Shaitan has an engaging plot that explores the idea of a ‘Shaitan’ within us. The thriller revolves around a 20-year-old kid who had a disrupted childhood because of her dysfunctional family. The film is a psychological thriller that’s realistic and scary at the same time. It talks about the darker side of freedom that’s very brutal and ruthless. You will witness the inner demons coming out in the form of aggression and violence.

4. Ugly

[‘Ugly’ is also featured in our ‘Best Bollywood Movies on Hotstar’ list]

Next on the list of the most Disturbing Bollywood Movies, Ugly revolves around how human selfishness and greed can lead to a loss of life. A dark, hard-hitting movie about the kidnapping of a 10-year-old girl. Instead of looking for her, every character is busy with greed, selfishness, and money. Though it’s an Anurag Kashyap film, it doesn’t revolve around gunshots and violence, it deals with the turmoil of human emotions and follies.

5. LSD

[‘LSD’ is also feat. in our ‘Best Movies on YouTube’ list]

Love, Sex Aur Dhoka was shot entirely on a Handycam, secret cameras is a perfect example of effective cinema. No exotic location, least amount of visual effort, and just a flawless plot of three interlinked stories. That’s all you need to have a perfect movie. LSD is raw, honest, and gruesome.

6. Matrubhoomi

A nation without women. A story about monsters with the face of humans living in the world where they killed all the female fetuses and now are fulfilling their nasty desires by going to animals. There are domestic abuse, gender imbalance, and child marriage. It is a tough film to swallow but indeed something we all needed. One of the most Disturbing Bollywood Movies.

7. Bandit Queen

[This film is also feat. in our ‘Female-Centric Bollywood Films’ list]

Bandit Queen, directed by Shekhar Kapur, is an Indian biographical drama based on dacoit Phoolan Devi played by Seema Biswas. Violence, nudity, nerve-racking scenes of gang rape, and emotional tremors. You name it, and the film had it. Bandit Queen shows how a woman was treated as an object back in the day, where they had to deal with child marriage, groping, catcalling, and sexual assault. All the atrocities will make it difficult for the viewer to move forward with the film. I guess the background score in itself is a warning for all the horror that follows. It is one of the most Disturbing Bollywood Movies ever made in Indian Cinema.

8. NH 10

The film revolves around a sensitive topic of honor killings in India. Based in Delhi, NH 10 is ruthless and full of violence. It is tough to watch all the characters suffering in the most violent way possible. It left me numb and sleepless for five days.

9. Anjaam (1994)

This film is a revenge story that shows how people act when they are truly madly in love. Shah Rukh Khan played the role of a bad-guy well in this film. There is blood-splattering, flesh chewing, skull smashing, and a man kicking a pregnant lady in the womb. You can’t watch this film without squishing your eyes.
