GOAT & Crime 101 (2026) – Movie Reviews

GOAT is directed by Tyree Dillihay, co-written by Aaron Buchsbaun and Teddy Riley, starring Caleb McLaughlin, Gabrielle Union, Stephen Curry, Aaron Pierre, Nicola Coughlan, David Harbour, and Nick Kroll. In this world of anthropomorphic animals one sport reigns supreme, Roarball. A tough violent game only played by the largest of animals. But a small goat has big dreams of joining his local professional team playing alongside his hero Jett Fillmore.

This is a fun movie. The animation, especially during the roarball games is great. Sony has really found their style and it has been working well for them so far. The world design was strong, especially for Vineland it felt like it had a very distinct personality to it. Loved a lot of the side characters like Modo, Chuck, & Rusty.

The pacing did move a little fast, not a lot of time to linger on the emotional beats before moving onto the next scene. And the story was nothing new. We have certainly see this exact story play out many times before on the big screen, particularly in sports films, but there was nothing wrong with it. All in all, GOAT is a fun time at the theater and does what it needs to.

‘GOAT (2026)’ Rating – 3/5

Crime 101 is written and directed by Bart Layton, starring Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Barry Keoghan, and Halle Berry. The plot revolves around a thief, who has his eyes set on his final score but when he encounters an insurance broker their paths intertwine as a determined detective tracks them down.

What a fun crime movie! Great acting from a very stacked cast, slick production and editing, a score that I really enjoyed. Where it falters a little is parts of its story are very underdevelopment like Chris Hemsworth’s relationship with Nick Nolte’s character, Barry Keoghan’s character serves its purpose but the character isn’t cool enough to make up for the lack of character development, and a half baked romance plot. However, our three main characters really worked for me especially Halle Berry. A fun time at the movies. All in all, Crime 101 is a solid crime movie that I’d throw on again.

‘Crime 101’ Rating – 3.25/5
