C U Soon Review: Delivers the Right Amount of Thrill and Emotions!

Director Mahesh Narayan’s C U Soon is a virtual life mystery-thriller that experiments the possibility of visual cinematography to shoot a complete feature film during these difficult times. The movie explores the story of two people who get matched to each other in an online dating site, and eventually, the narrative turns into a mysterious drama focusing around the dark secrets that are kept intact by the girl. The story of C U Soon is set among the individuals residing in the United Arab Emirates, Jimmy (Roshan Mathew) and Anu (Darshana Rajendran), who meet through an online dating app and build their relationship in the virtual world. On the other hand, Kevin (Fahadh Faasil), cousin of Jimmy, helps in tracking the details of the girl. And in the turmoil of events, Anu joins Jimmy at his apartment, and situations become worse when she goes missing from Jimmy’s apartment. Showcasing the dramatic events, the movie offers us a gripping first half and an emotional melodrama in the second.

C U Soon Movie Review

Beginning with the positives of C U Soon, this experimental movie is a nail-biting thriller with emotional elements, crafted remarkably by the writer-director Mahesh Narayanan. With zero pacing issues, Narayanan successfully blended the visual cinematography to portray a storyline based on the virtual world, and his splendid editing managed to keep me engaged all the time. Within the technical constraints, cinematography by Sabin Uralikandy maintained the high standards. C U Soon Review

The original background score by Gopi Sunder matched the tone of the movie, and the incredible sound design by Kunal Rajan compounded the scenes excellently. Production design had very limited work, and Nazriya Nazim took up the job herself besides being a producer.

The exceptional performance from Fahadh Faasil mesmerized me through and through as he masterfully portrayed a variety of emotions from anger, curiosity, and desperation. Darshana Rajendran put forth an amazing effort in enacting the role filled with elements of hardships, fear, and pain. After Kappella, Roshan Mathew chose a different role, and he succeeded in picturing Jimmy on screen.

Overall, despite being an experimental attempt, C U Soon is an unconventional mystery thriller with the right balance of emotional melodrama. A must watch for everyone who are into thrillers. Watch ‘C U Soon’ on Amazon Prime Video here.
