The movie showcases how a group of friends get into trouble due to local politics and authority in their village. Director Sasikumar’s powerful writing with proper technicalities recreated the whole retro backdrop authentically, and it offered an engaging experience by immersing us into their world.


4. Sivappu Manjal Pachai

Sivappu Manjal Pachai is an emotional drama directed by Sasi, anchored around the brother and a sister relationship. The movie stars Siddharth, G. V. Prakash Kumar, and Lijomol Jose in lead roles. Rajalakshmi’s (Lijomol Jose) brother Madhan (G. V. Prakash Kumar), a street racer, resists his sister from being married to Rajashekar (Siddharth), as he is a Traffic Police officer.

The manner in which their relationships get altered after this marriage is detailed in the remainder of the runtime. ’96 is a romantic drama that revolves around two characters, Ram (Vijay Sethupathi) and Janaki (Trisha), who had been in love during their school days and meet after a long time in their school reunion. How they shared and made beautiful memories in a few hours available to them is the crux of the film.

Director C. Prem Kumar’s gentle narration and writing gave a nostalgic experience, and the soothing visuals and the delightful music also add the much-need elegance to the film. The story is about an IPS officer Mithran (Jayam Ravi), whose prolonged desire is to spot a fitting opponent for him and how the business tycoon Siddharth Abhimanyu (Aravind Swami) became a target for him is the engaging plot of the movie.

The intriguing screenplay around the happening crimes in our society is the USP of the film. The stylish antagonist character and appealing music added the much-needed spice to the narration.
