A Quiet Place 2 Review: A Worthy Sequel!

A Quiet Place 2 is a 2021 American horror film directed by John Krasinski and stars himself, his real-life wife, Emily Blunt, Cillian Murphy, Noah Jupe, and Millicent Simmonds in the primary roles. Before I go any further, if you haven’t seen A Quiet Place 1, please do not read any further. That was your warning. A Quiet Place 2 picks up right at the end of the first film.

A Quiet Place 2 begins with The Abbott family, and after the events of the first movie, they must venture out of their home into the unknown. They soon run into an old friend Emmett holding up in a nearby building and will seek refuge with him as enemies lurk about.

A Quiet Place 2 was one of my most anticipated movies of the year, and I rushed to the cinema for opening night. The first time I have been back to the theater since Tenet back in October, and I wasn’t disappointed.

A Quiet Place 2 Review

John Krasinski once again does an excellent job directing, and this time the film is written solely by Krasinski, and he does a stellar job writing as well. The screenplay is well-paced, engaging and it will certainly keep you on the edge of your seat the entire time.

The cinematography here is also excellent by Charlotte Bruus Christensen. I loved the vibrant colors from the day 1 scene especially. The music by Marco Beltrami is very good and it is perfectly utilized by Krasinski. He knows where it’s needed and exactly where it’s not.

Now on to the performances, Emily Blunt is great as usual. Cillian Murphy, one of my favorite actors, takes on this new role terrifically. My favorite performances though were by Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe, who both were amazing. A Quiet Place 2 is a fantastic film. Excellent direction, music, cinematography, and writing combined with great performances make a worthy sequel to its predecessor.
