Netflix’s Let It Snow Review: Remains Charming Despite the Storyline Issues!

Based on the novel of the same name written by Maureen Johnson, John Green, and Lauren Myracle, Let It Snow stars an expansive range of up and coming actors with the most notable ones being – Isabela Merced, Kiernan Shipka and Joan Cusack in a special appearance. The storyline of the film takes place on the span of one day and features a collection of stories of different characters from the same small town in Illinois. And the remainder of this 92-minute romantic-drama succeeds in displaying the movie’s characters attempting to overpower their shortcomings and celebrate the beautiful day of Christmas with a happy heart.

Emphasizing the term ‘Netflix and Chill,’ Let It Snow fits the Netflix rom-com genre perfectly where you can just shut your brain down, and enjoy the movie for what it is. And the film has quite a lot going on, in terms of enjoyable things packed within the runtime. The candid vibe, snowfall, Christmas decorations and the fact that the movie begins and ends in one single day from limited locations add the much-needed charm and appeal to the narrative, and make it a pleasurable watch.

Furthermore, Let It Snow has quite a few hits and misses when it comes to the actual storyline. With multiple stories simultaneously being told, the one involving Isabela Merced and Shameik Moore stood out the most as their brief character interactions felt genuine, relatable and made the most sense by the very end. But, despite that, the remaining few failed to create an impression and are not entirely underwhelming especially because they did not bore me out.

Let It Snow Netflix Review

Also, similar to every other John Green’s novel adaptation, Let It Snow also follows similar patterns by making terrific use of peppy, upbeat music that transitions in-and-out of most of the feel-good sequences which are not too hard to find. A good selection of songs accompanied by some scenic shots of the small town cap-up the technical aspects on a decent note. The performances from the complete cast were decent at best as the narrative didn’t require them to act remarkably in any scene, therefore, there are not annoying to watch.
