Vikramarkudu (Junga) Review: Not Worth the Hype!

Vikramarkudu on AHA is a 2021 Telugu movie and a dubbed version of Junga (2018), a Tamil film starring Vijay Sethupathi, Sayyeshaa, Madonna Sebastian in the lead roles. Suresh Chandra Menon, Yogi Babu, Rajendran, and Saranya Ponvannan portrayed the supporting characters with Gokul, the director, and Siddharth Vipin as the music director.

The story of Vikramarkudu centers around Junga (Vijay Sethupathi), who gets involved in a fiery dispute and loses a family-owned theater in return. Subsequently, to get back the property he lost, he schemes a plan, moves to Paris, and fights a criminal gang.

Opening with the positives of Vikramarkudu on AHA, the comedic scenes were entertaining enough to keep you hooked for a casual evening watch. Yogi Babu, who is on a roll lately and also impressed in a dramatic role in Mandela, does his comedy well alongside the main lead Vijay Sethupathi.

However, Vikramarkudu fails for the most part when it comes to the story, which lacks drama and is overly commercial. Gokul, the director, who also wrote the movie doesn’t structure the movie well as it lacks a decent pace through and through.

On the technical side of Vikramarkudu / Junga, cinematographer Dudley did a fantastic job in capturing the picturesque locales of Italy and other parts of Europe. Onto the performances, Vijay Sethupathi impresses as usual with his swag, charisma, and overall screen presence. The female leads, Sayyeshaa and Madonna Sebastian didn’t have much to do, and the supporting actors performed well with what they were offered.

All in all, Vikramarkudu on AHA could’ve been better as far as screenplay, story, and screenplay go. Vijay Sethupathi and Yogi Babu’s comedy track entertains to some extent, but as an overall movie, this is a disappointing one. Watch ‘Vikramarkudu’ on AHA Video here.
