Seapiracy Review: Explores the Negatives of Commercial Fishing!

Seapiracy is the latest Netflix documentary film which has been getting a lot of mixed reaction from the netizens. Directed by Ali Tabrizi, the film explores the negative impacts of commercial fishing on the environment.

Director Ali Tabrizi, who also stars in the Seaspiracy, goes on a mission with his wife Lucy Tabrizi to find what is happening in the marine ecosystem and exposes the people behind the large scale destruction.

Seapiracy criticises many marine conservation organisations, accuses them of diverting from the real issue and focusing on the less important matter. Ali Tabrizi argues that the so-called environmental activists do not want to talk about the whale in the room and is more concerned about the anchovies.

Seapiracy also throws light on how in the name of sustainable fishing and dolphin-safe labels, the general public is deceived of the actual problem.

Seapiracy has triggered a negative response from several environmental organisations. They allege that the facts are misinterpreted by the makers and do not educate on the concrete issues.

However, the data and footage shown in the film are large enough to argue on the wrong-doings of the fishing industry globally. I can’t vouch for the Seapiracy makers or asseverate the facts in the movie, but it made me not buy sea food, at least for another month. Watch ‘Seaspiracy’ on Netflix here.
