Purple Hearts: “A Fake Marriage Turns Real Love?” – Journal with Yas #6

Purple Hearts didn’t really surprise me, it was exactly what I expected; sweet, cheesy and predictable. I really liked the casting of this movie and thought the chemistry between Sofia Carson and Nicholas Galitzine was really good! I liked how the story unfolded and showcased the different obstacles of being married to a marine, being there for the good times and the bad amongst the other personal struggles. I loved the song “Come Back Home” and safe to say it will be added to my playlist. Sometimes I can’t help but love the enemies to lovers trope and this was exactly that.

However I just didn’t like the character of Cassie, I found her to be quite bratty, annoying and stubborn, as well as self-centred. I felt like I knew what would happen next as each scene started so there wasn’t anything that really stood out to me during the film. I do think certain aspects of the story could have been developed a bit more such as diving deeper into each individual character and their backstories.

Overall Purple Hearts on Netflix was a cute film for an easy watch! 💜🎤🎵🎹🇺🇸👩🏻‍❤️‍👨🏻
