Directed by Sonam Nair, the new Netflix Original Series, Masaba Masaba is a breather among all the recent gritty content we have been watching on OTT like Paatal Lok on Amazon Prime and Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s latest thriller, Raat Akeli Hai. Its a slice of designer Masaba Gupta’s life based on some of her own experiences.

Masaba Masaba also has the wondrous Neena Gupta playing herself and deals with the problems she faced in making a smashing comeback. The mother-daughter duo displays their true selves in the entire show, and the candor is refreshing. Also, it’s a brilliant choice by them to showcase their real lives on the reel.
Masaba Gupta is her usual sassy self, what her followers on Instagram already know. Subsequently, her performance felt effortless, and her eye rolls are hilarious to watch. Neena Gupta is adorable, and it’s captivating to watch that even after receiving several accolades in her career, its shown how the actor in her struggles to find work.
Then there is Rytasha Rathore, who plays the charming Gia and delivers on the ask. Her character is fun, sassy yet vulnerable, and she plays it through and through. Sunita Rajwar as the cute family confidant had us floored. This is just another feather in her accolade worthy cap.
Satyadeep Mishra plays the poised husband in his unique reverent self. Smaran Sahu, who we have previously seen in various ad campaigns, is the revelation in the show. His acting skills are effective, and he adapts to the effortlessly charming Jogi excellently.

Last but not least, there is Neil Bhoopalam. Everyone knows his talent, and still, he managed to surprise us in this geeky nerdy boss vibe which we have never seen him in before. Just shows the versatility of his talent. The huge ensemble of supporting cast is aptly fit into the narrative with many well-known faces from the industry making cameos.
Overall, Masaba Masaba on Netflix is an excellent take on how new-age problems strike everyone the same, even though they are well-known and established celebrities. Watch ‘Masaba Masaba’ on Netflix here.
