Yes Day Review: A Fun Casual Watch!

It’s been a long time since I watched something randomly on Netflix. Once in a while, I would pick a film or a series that recently started to stream on Netflix and review them. Video streaming platforms have begun to flood with quite a few regional movies since producers have opted for an early OTT release. But I took the time of both my office and website schedule to watch a random Netflix film. And, Yes Day, directed by Miguel Arteta, was my pick.

Yes Day stars Jennifer Garner, Édgar Ramírez, Jenna Ortega, Julian Lerner, and Everly Carganilla as a family of two parents and three kids. Dejected by knowing that their kids see her as a gruesome dictator, Allison Torress (Jennifer Garner) and her husband Carlos Torress (Édgar Ramírez) decides to give their three kids a Yes Day. A day in which their kids could ask them any crazy things (of course with a few ground rules), and the parents should not say No.

Parenting can be excruciating, especially when you have a teenage daughter, a naughty nine-year-old, and an innocent preschooler. As fun as it begins, the Yes Day turns out to be a day of lessons for the kids and the parents. It was a day of realization for the Torress Family as they understand the needs of one another.

Yes Day Netflix Review

Yes Day is based upon the children’s book of the same name by Amy Krouse Rosenthal and Tom Lichtenheld, while Justin Malen adapts the screenplay and screen story for movie purposes. Well, for a 90-minute thriller, the story felt complete right from the beginning through the end. It did not exaggerate anywhere and was quick enough to finish.

Jennifer Garner, Édgar Ramírez, Jenna Ortega, Julian Lerner, and Everly Carganilla as the Torress Family in Yes Day were perfect casting. They blend well as a family, and the chemistry they shared gave us the feel of watching a real family onscreen.

To sum it up, Yes Day is a perfect film to watch with your kids provided you are ready to grant your children a yes day. Nevertheless, it was an excellent get-away from the hustle and bustle of life to cherish a quality evening time with your beloved kids.
