8. Celebrity Directors! Producers aaaand… Cousins!

Karan Johar and Aditya Chopra are well-known to the public as mega-popular directors of films like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Dil To Pagal Hai. They also own two of the biggest production houses in Bollywood, Yash Raj Films and Dharma Productions. But, are you aware that these two iconic figures in Bollywood are related to each other? Yes, Karan Johar’s mother Hiroo Johar and Aditya Chopra’s father are siblings, therefore making them first cousins.


7. Hey, Mama!

Here’s a more “Achaaa!” form of Bollywood Celebrity Relations that I’m sure you didn’t know before. Malaal starring Meezan Jaffrey and Sharmin Segal in the lead roles did not gain much publicity. Bad reviews and the poor word-of-mouth didn’t help the movie either. But, how many of us know that Sharmin Segal is, in fact, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s niece? And also, the proud producer of the movie. Mama’s love didn’t quite reflect on the box office numbers!

6. An Iconic Mother-in-Law

One of the best actresses and dancers as well as a sex symbol of the 60s and 70s Bollywood era, Mumtaz is well respected in the industry for her matchless contributions. And more on the bright side of things, her daughter, Natasha Madhvani is happily married to Fardeen Khan who acted in many popular Bollywood entertainers like No Entry, Shaadi No. 1 and Heyy Babyy. A happy family!


5. From the House of Balaji

Director Abhishek Kapoor who directed a few remarkable movies like – Rock On!!, Kai Po Che! and a few okay-ish ones in Fitoor and Kedarnath started his career surprisingly as an actor. His debut 1997 film Uff! Yeh Mohabbat was with Twinkle Khanna and did not garner any response from the viewers maybe because of the three-hour runtime. Still and all, on a more interesting note, Abhishek is related to the House of Balaji as he is the cousin of Tushar and Ekta Kapoor.

4. Deep in Her Roots!

The Preeti Sikka you all know and love, Kiara Advani is on top of her game lately with films like Lust Stories, the controversial commercial hit – Kabir Singh and Kalank working in her favor. Her upcoming films line-up is stacked with Laxmmi Bomb starring Akshay Kumar, Good Newwz with Karan Johar as the producer and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 opposite to Kartik Aaryan.

When it comes to relations, Kiara is the great-granddaughter of the legendary actor Ashok Kumar who appeared in many iconic movies like Kismet, Mashaal and Parineeta. Also, Saeed Jaffrey, a versatile actor and a celebrated voice actor is her great grand uncle.


3. The Secret Chopra Sister

Meera Chopra, who made her film debut with Anbe Aaruyire and is noted for her performance in Bangaram opposite Pawan Kalyan did not enjoy a successful film career, but she was often applauded for many of her distinct performances. In her latest critically-acclaimed courtroom-drama, Section 375, she played the role of Victim Anjali Dangle and won the audience’s heart over.

More importantly, former Miss World, Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Daawat-e-Ishq star Parineeti Chopra are her second cousins. But, Meera Chopra was very public about the fact that she didn’t ask for any help from her cousins. So, good for her.

2. Nepotism-ish?

Vicky Kaushal is indeed the son of a very popular action director in the industry, Sham Kaushal. Sham worked in many mainstream films like Student of the Year 2, Sanju, Padmaavat and Dangal. So, there’s that.


1. National Award-winning Sisters

Priyamani, who is a well-known actress in the South Film Industry, is a proud recipient of a National Film Award and three Filmfare Awards in different-language films. Her performances in films like Paruthiveeran, Golimaar and Rakta Charitra II won her critical acclaim as her versatile characters were certainly memorable. Priyamani was recently seen in the Prime Original Series, The Family Man, portraying the character of Suchi – a mother of two and an ambitious woman who struggles to find common ground with her husband, Manoj Bajpayee. But, did you know that she is the cousin of yet another National Award-winning actress, Vidya Balan?
