Top 10 Indian Movies Releasing in February 2020

Looking forward to February and the best movies releasing in India throughout the entire month, there are quite a few to pick and choose from especially if you’re looking forward to quality cinema. From the first horror movie franchise from Dharma Productions in BHOOT and a spin-off of 2009 romantic drama- Love Aaj Kal, multiple movies from Bollywood, Tollywood to Malayalam cinema are releasing in February. 10. Varane Aavashyamundu

Release Date – February 7
Director – Anoop Satyan Anthikkad
Starring – Dulquer Salmaan & Kalyani Priyadarshan

Anoop Satyan Anthikkad’s Varane Aavashyamundu garnered its hype due to the reunion of Suresh Gopi and Shobhana and the movie also stars Dulquer Salmaan and Kalyani Priyadarshan as the male and female lead. Produced by Wayfarer Films and M Star Entertainments, Varane Aavashyamundu will feature technicians like Mukesh Muraleedharan and Alphonse Joseph working as the cinematographer and the music director. – Ashif AR


9. Malang

Starring – Aditya Roy Kapur, Disha Patani

Mohit Suri’s Malang is an upcoming romantic-action thriller and stars Aditya Roy Kapur and Disha Patani in the lead roles with Anil Kapoor and Kunal Khemu as the supporting cast. With his 2017 film- Half Girlfriend bombing both critically and commercially, Malang will count as a make or break project for Suri, and everything seems to go steady so far with the trailers and the promo songs. – Surya Komal


8. Jaanu

Starring – Sharwanand and Samantha Akkineni

Director Premkumar is remaking his blockbuster Tamil movie ’96, which swayed everyone’s heart with its melting content and impeccable acting of Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha. The Telugu remake will star Sharwanand and Samantha Akkineni in the shoes of VJS and Trisha. And I’m excited to watch whether the magic will repeat with the Telugu audience too. – Nirmal Raj



7. BHOOT: Part One – The Haunted Ship

Director – Bhanu Pratap Singh
Starring – Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar

BHOOT – The Haunted Ship is a horror-thriller film directed by Bhanu Pratap Singh, and it is said to be based on some true happenings in Mumbai. It tells the story of a couple on an abandoned ship lying static on a beach. The film features Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar and Ashutosh Rana in lead roles, and is the first film of a planned horror film franchise similar to the Blockbuster Muni franchise in Kollywood. – Nirmal Raj

Starring – Fahadh Faasil, Nazriya Nazim

Anwar Rasheed’s Trance is the most awaited Malayalam movie of 2020 for all the right reasons. Primarily because of the big names in the film. Anwar Rasheed is returning to the director’s chair after a long time, and most of his films were commercial hits. Fahadh Faasil plays the lead role, and the supporting cast includes Nazriya Nazim, Soubin Shahir, Vinayakan, Joju George, and Chemban Vinod. Amal Neerad is handling the camera, and Resul Pookkutty is doing the sound design. The film is set to release on February 14, 2020. – Ashif AR


5. World Famous Lover

Starring – Vijay Deverakonda

After his super hit film – Arjun Reddy made a round of controversies, not only in Telugu but also among the Bollywood critics. Tollywood’s current heartthrob – Vijay Deverakonda, is all set to offer producers from Bombay and Chennai yet another movie to remake for. World Famous Lover directed by Kranthi Madhav is a first-of-a-kind anthology movie in which Vijay set to romance four actresses. Gopi Sundar will serve as the music director, and Jayakrishna will handle the camera, the movie is all set to hit the screens this Valentine’s Day. – Nirmal Raj



4. Thappad

Director – Anubhav Sinha
Starring – Taapsee Pannu

Taapsee Pannu, who is on top of the mountain right now with her acting prowess, and a series of hit films, is all set to release her first film for 2020 with Thappad, directed by Anubhav Sinha. The actor-director duo previously worked together for 2018 critically acclaimed drama- Mulk. Thappad also stars Pavail Gulati, Tanvi Azmi, Naila Grewal playing the supporting roles. – Nirmal Raj


3. Love Aaj Kal

Starring – Kartik Aaryan and Sara Ali Khan

A spiritual successor to the superhit 2009 film of the same name, Love Aaj Kal has Kartik Aaryan and Sara Ali Khan in the lead role with Imtiaz Ali in the director’s chair. Among the dull, tried and tested Bollywood romance movies of the modern era, Love Aaj Kal‘s trailer proved to be fresh and something to look forward to, especially, Sara Ali Khan who made an impressive debut with Kedarnath. – Nirmal Raj


2. Birds of Prey

Starring – Margot Robbie, Ewan McGregor

Cathy Yan’s Birds of Prey– a spin-off movie from the Suicide Squad franchise stars Margot Robbie in the lead role playing the titular role of Harley Quinn. The movie also stars Ewan McGregor and Mary Elizabeth Winstead in supporting roles that are already the talk-of-the-town. With the early positive social media reactions already out to the public, Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) seems to be a sure-shot success and is unlike any movie we’ve ever seen in the DC Universe.



1. Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan

Release Date – February 21
Director – Hitesh Kewalya
Starring – Ayushamann Khurrana, Jitendra Kumar

The second installment in the Shubh Mangal Saavdhan franchise, Zyada Saavdhan will once again star Ayushmann Khurrana in the primary role with Jitendra Kumar as his partner as the movie’s theme is centered around Homosexuality and Gay marriage. The super-hit Badhaai Ho couple- Neena Gupta and Gajraj Rao will once again be seen playing significant supporting roles as the mother and father of the lead star. And I hope that this movie will break boundaries, and showcases the LGBTQ+ communities in a positive light similar to the 2019 film – Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga. – Surya Komal
