Kilometers and Kilometers Review: A Strict One-Time Watch!

Jeo Baby’s directorial Kilometers and Kilometers is an emotional drama that takes us through the life of Josemon, who struggles to meet ends regularly however, an eventful journey changes his life for the greater good. Produced by Tovino Thomas, Ramshi Ahamed, and Anto Joseph, Kilometers and Kilometers is the very first Malayalam movie to have a celebrated direct-to-TV release. And the storyline revolves around our lead character, played by Tovino Thomas, alongside his co-star played beautifully by India Jarvis, accompanied by a powerful performance by Sidharth Shiva. Blending in a variety of genres from comedy to drama and road, the narrative of Kilometers and Kilometers showcases the journey which Josemon (Tovino Thomas) commits for Cathy (India Jarvis) on his Royal Enfield motorcycle, to which he has a heart-rending relationship with. Cathy and Josemon share different perspectives about life, and on their ride together, they explore unexpected situations that alter their opinions at life.

Opening with the negatives of the film, first of all, writer and director Jeo Baby, compared to his last outing in 2018 – Kunju Daivam did not manage to deliver an engaging product as the script is dull and lacked excitement. But, the emotional components are blended in flawlessly with the brighter and also the darker facets of the narrative. During the first act, the heart-warming moments are conceived well, contrary to the second half, where the storyline is treated poorly for the most part. Kilometers and Kilometers Review

Moving on to the technical aspects of Kilometers and Kilometers, Sinu Sidharth’s cinematography was excellent for a road film, and he managed to capture the scenic, green landscape illustrations that are appealing to the naked eye. The songs composed by Sooraj S. Kurup were decent, and the background score by Sushin Shyam kept the movie lively despite the lagging script.

Although the character establishment was mediocre, Tovino Thomas and India Jarvis performed wonderfully in their roles, and the duo’s on-screen chemistry elevated the film’s quality, which otherwise would have become been a disaster. And a special shout to Sidharth Shiva, who is very natural compared to his previous dramatic outings. Joju George and Basil Joseph utilized their minimal screen time in delivering satisfactory performance.

Overall, Kilometers and Kilometers, which had its premiere on network television, lacks a strong script and a few entertaining elements which could have been useful for the narrative to flow more fluently. A strict one-time watch, especially for the beautiful performances from Tovino and India.
