Kaithi/Khaidi Review: A Sheer Brilliant Action-Thriller!
Director Lokesh Kanagaraj, who previously directed only one movie, has proven his worth and displays what he is capable of with Kaithi. Never have I ever seen a movie executed with sheer brilliance, captivating the audience with his screenplay and made sure he provides wholesome entertainment. Kaithi has Karthi as the main lead, Narain, Dheena, and several other supporting casts. Interestingly, the film does not have any female lead as the story doesn’t demand one and Kanagaraj opted to not add one forcefully.

The plot of Kaithi begins with a drug seizure and an internal conspiracy among the Police Department leading to the poisoning of quite a few cops. Bejoy (Narain), one of the officers, escapes unharmed; he is left with the responsibility of saving every other officer. Dilli (Karthi) happens to be in the wrong place at the right time, and Bejoy seeks his help to drive a truck to safely transport the police officers to a nearby hospital. With a group of hooligans behind their back, Dilli antics to save everyone within a night forms the remainder of the storyline.
The main strength of Kaithi lies in its screenplay, perfectly crafted and executed with necessary support from the technical department. As a result, Lokesh Kanagaraj was able to pull off an intense thriller. Karthi is back with his Paruthiveeran looks, and he is brilliant through and through. He was natural, intense, the kind of performance we have been expecting from him in a long time, and he delivers. All the support cast, including George Maryan, Kanna Ravi did their part satisfactorily.
Yet another aspect which added great strength to Kaithi was Sam C. S’s astonishing background score. The movie had very minimal dialogue and Sam C. S. made sure his background score speak for everyone. Also, the Stunt Director deserves a mention for the brilliant stunt choreography; I enjoyed the action sequences, which were raw and wild.
Kaithi has everything you would expect from an action-thriller. Minimal dialogues, focusing more on the screenplay, scenes which give you an adrenaline rush, intense background score, nerve-racking action sequences, and a mixture of sentiment and mellow comedy, this movie had it all. I was personally, engrossed with the movie and its scenes that I couldn’t look for a negative to nitpick. I was satisfied after so long that I had the contempt of watching a worthy thriller and I was entertained too. Kaithi is a definite watch.
