Best Movies of Asif Ali You Shouldn’t Miss Watching!

Asif Ali is a prominent talent in the Malayalam Film Industry who started his career without any industry background or godfathers. Within his twelve-year career span, he has mesmerized with quite a few sparkling performances ranging from character roles to anti-hero roles. Even with a minimal amount of screen time, he has outperformed his role in the Virus movie, and his negative character in the film Uyare was impressive.

The year 2019 for Asif Ali started with the industry hit Vijay Superum Pournamiyum, and in this year, he became a stand out with exceptional performances in Ketyolaanu Ente Malakha, Virus, and Uyare. He has promising releases in the bag for 2021, and Kunjeldho is the one with high expectations!

[This film is also feat. in our ‘Best Underrated Malayalam Movies’ list]

Kakshi: Amminippilla is one of the underrated movies of Asif Ali, where he portrays a talented lawyer and an aspiring politician at the same time. The film is the tale of Amminippilla, aka Shajith (Ahmed Siddique), who is forced to marry by his family. He finds it difficult to persist with his plus-sized newlywed bride, Kanthi (Shibla), and files divorce within a short span. The film, with some social elements, relaxes our minds and is enjoyable to the core. Asif Ali’s character is the icing on the top alongside a few stellar performances from the supporting cast.

4. Salt N’ Pepper

In Aashiq Abu’s Salt N’ Pepper, Asif Ali portrays Manu, a care-free young man. The storyline narrates the lives of Kalidasan (Lal) and Maya (Swetha Menon) and how Manu and Meenakshi (Mythili) get involved in the events initiated from a wrong call by Maya to Kalidasan. The uniqueness and the freshness of the script made Salt N’ Pepper a trendsetter, and in the process, highlighting the career of Asif Ali. An official remake of the 2016 super-hit Telugu film, Pelli Choopulu, Jis Joy’s romantic comedy, Vijay Superum Pournamiyum, is one of the most feel-good Malayalam movies in recent times. Asif Ali portrays the role of Vijay with immense charm alongside his co-star, Aishwarya Lekshmi.

2. Honey Bee

Director – Jean Paul Lal
Streaming Platform – Disney+ Hotstar

Honey Bee is one movie that pops up instantly in my mind while I think of Asif Ali. In the film, he had portrayed Seban with ease blending in the flavors of Kochi. Honey Bee portrays the story of Seban and his gang in Kochi, who live a carefree life. On the other side, Angel (Bhavana), who, in the middle of her marriage proposals, seeks to clarify whether Seban has feelings for her.

Furthermore, a few entertaining events kick-off when the Seban’s gang visit her home on the night before her marriage and make arrangements for the couple to elope. However, in the morning, they realize the grave situation they invited and try to dodge it. One of the best comedy-drama movies by Asif Ali.

1. Kettyolaanu Ente Malakha

Director – Nissam Basheer
Streaming Platform – Prime Video

[This film is also featured in our ‘Best Malayalam Films on Amazon’ list]

Kettiyolaanu Ente Maalakha is the career-best movie of Asif Ali so far, where he lived through the character of Sleevachan, with absolute perfection. He shares the screen opposite Veena Nandakumar in the film. The film narrates the story of Sleevachan, who is the only man who provides support to his family comprising of his mother and four sisters.

After getting all his beloved sisters married, he arranges himself for his marriage, but, as the wedding date approaches, he fears how to continue his married life due to a ton of insecurities. The aftermath of the marriage is portrayed in the rest of the movie.
