6. Things Heard & Seen
Starring – Amanda Seyfried, Natalia Dyer
Directors – Shari Berman & Robert Pulcini
Streaming Platform – Netflix
[This film is also feat. in our ‘Best Horror Movies on Netflix’ list]
A young married couple moves from a small town into a strange home Amanda Seyfried is one of my favorite actresses, she has so much range and does such diverse movies. As far as Things Heard & Seen goes, it was a decent watch. The atmosphere throughout the film was super mysterious and ominous, and as the story progressed, the setting got even creepier. The storyline is interesting, there are overlapping stories, and towards the end, things escalate so quickly that it kept me on the edge-of-my-seat. – Zoha Junaid (@zohasreviews)
5. The Conjuring 3
Starring – Vera Farmiga & Patrick Wilson
Director – Michael Chaves
Streaming – Prime Video

The latest part of the Conjuring series follows supernatural investigators, Ed and Lorraine Warren, on the most confusing case of their professional career where a man murders someone and claims that a demon made him do it. On par with the first two films in terms of quality, Conjuring 3 hits all the major points that a horror movie should hit. One of the Best Horror Movies of 2021.
Packed with decent jump scares and an engaging storyline based on true events, Conjuring 3 was pretty different from the previous installments, it centered more on the relationship between Ed and Lorraine Warren. And Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson once again have remarkable chemistry together, and the love that the couple shared is just adorable to watch. Conjuring 3 wasn’t scary as the first one, but the story and the character development are well executed. – Zoha Junaid (@zohasreviews)
4. Fear Street Trilogy
Starring – Kiana Madeira, Olivia Scott Welch
Director – Leigh Janiak
Streaming – Netflix
Based on the books of the same name by R. L. Stine, a group of teenagers attempts to fight an evil entity that’s plagued their town for centuries after a series of brutal slayings. Despite my reservations about this franchise, I enjoyed what it is, through and through. The story spans from the 1990s to way back to the 1660s, and it is intriguing, to say the least. The actors, consisting of a fairly unfamiliar cast, did a super-impressive job. A slasher franchise that is well-executed and entertaining from start to finish. – Zoha Junaid (@zohasreviews)
3. Oxygen (2021)
Starring – Melanie Laurent, Malik Zidi
Director – Alexandre Aja
Streaming – Netflix
Oxygen, a French horror-thriller on Netflix, follows our primary character, who had to figure who she was before the oxygen ran out in her cryogenic unit. The first 2/3rd of this movie was a typical of a claustrophobic thriller. It built up certain things before the twist came. And there wasn’t only one twist. The last third act became a showdown of twists with each one coming after another as the main character figured out what was going on.
There were fear, panic, and confusion about what was real and not. And Melanie Laurent played the role very well and delivered all the emotion. Overall, an entertaining last third act made up for the typical buildup. I wished the ending would be darker, like in Buried. One of the Best Horror Movies of 2021. – Nguyen Dang (@in_nguyen_do)
2. The Night House
Starring – Rebecca Hall, Sarah Goldberg
Director – David Bruckner
Streaming – Disney+ Hotstar
[This excerpt comes from Steph’s ‘Night House’ Review]
Directed by David Bruckner and starring Rebecca Hall in the lead role, The Night House follows a widow, who starts to discover a few shocking secrets of her recently deceased husband. An atmospheric and unsettling release, The Night House is everything a horror film should be while being difficult to turn away from until the very last scene. One of the Best Horror Movies of 2021.
1. A Quiet Place II
Starring – Emily Blunt, Cillian Murphy
Director – John Krasinski
Streaming – Prime Video
Beginning right after the conclusion of the first film, the family now had to leave their home. And this was my first problem with the movie. For some reason, the event at the end of the first film got ignored. But on the bright side, the tension was handled very well for this movie, similar to the first, maybe a little bit better. There were more monsters, and they looked as scary as ever.
Emily Blunt, the lead star, managed to pull out yet another impressive performance as the mother who tried to protect her kids. The two kids had more screen time and managed not to get outshined by Blunt. Overall, I still had a great time with the theater as the horror and tension were superb. One of the Best Horror Movies of 2021. – Nguyen Dang (@in_nguyen_do)
