On the topic of the Best Bollywood Movies of 2021, similar to Kollywood, Hindi Film Industry found it hard to get back on its feet during this year’s pandemic and churn out quality films. But, there is still hope with quite a few upcoming releases like Laal Singh Chadha, Gangubai Kathiawadi, and many more, and hopefully, more titles will join this list of the Best Bollywood Movies of 2021.

[This excerpt comes from Surya’s ‘Tribhanga’ Review]
Tribhanga starring Kajol Devgn, Tanvi Azmi, and Mithila Palkar in the lead roles, discusses the unorthodox lives of three diverse female characters in a well narrated social drama. Within the 95-minute runtime, this Netflix Original explores complicated and sensitive subjects that we easily relate to with remarkable performances. The movie feels like a breath-of-fresh air and is, without a doubt, thoroughly entertaining inside and out.
Director – Dibakar Banerjee
Starring – Parineeti Chopra & Arjun Kapoor
Streaming Platform – Prime Video
Next on the list of the Best Bollywood Movies of 2021, a pregnant banker, who is on a hitlist for reasons you will discover in due course of the story, is on the run with a morally contrasted ex-cop who gets unwillingly muddled in the situation. An engaging drama garnished with the feel of a thriller makes this atypical Bollywood film, a refreshing and compelling one-time watch. Give it a shot on Amazon Prime Video without being biased by the negative reviews the movie is being wrongly (and quite surprisingly) subjected to. – Sohini Sen (@cine_thusiast)
Director – Ivan Ayr
Starring – Suvinder Vicky & Lakshvir Saran
Streaming Platform – Netflix
[This excerpt comes from Surya’s ‘Meel Patthar’ Review]
Milestone (Meel Patthar), starring Suvinder Vicky and Lakshvir Saran in the primary roles, revolves around a truck driver who recently completed 500,000 kilometers on the road faces a dilemma and some threat when a new intern is appointed to replace him in his role. Overall, Meel Patthar is slow, unconventional, and might not have that re-watchability factor, but it is brilliant in its own way and similar to Ivan Ayr’s previous directorial, Soni. This movie, however, will stick with you for a while and is ideal to watch on a rainy day.
Director – Umesh Bist
Starring – Sanya Malhotra & Shruti Sharma
Streaming Platform – Netflix
[This excerpt comes from Surya’s ‘Pagglait’ Review]
Starring Sanya Malhotra in the lead role, Pagglait, explores the story of a young widow, Sandhya, who finds it tough to comprehend her husband’s sudden death. And through the runtime, the narrative displays the journey of her discovering what she actually wants in life. Documenting Sandhya’s life from being a restricted housewife to a strong independent woman with intricate storytelling, relatable characters, and remarkable performances, Pagglait tried to be different and, at the same time, entertaining with some noticeable flaws. One of the Best Bollywood Movies of 2021.
Director – Laxman Utekar
Starring – Kriti Sanon & Pankaj Tripathi
Streaming Platform – Netflix
[This excerpt comes from Surya’s ‘Mimi’ Review]
Directed by Laxman Utekar, Mimi, a 2021 Hindi-language comedy-drama starring Kriti Sanon and Pankaj Tripathi in the primary roles, is a remake of the hit 2011 Marathi film, Mala Aai Vhhaychy! that explores the journey of a surrogate mother from Rajasthan. A heart-warming and emotionally rich film through and through, Mimi, with an unorthodox storyline, all-star performances, and soothing music, is one Best Bollywood Movies of 2021. A must-watch!
