11. Blood of Zeus

Creators – Charley & Vlas Parlapanides
Cast – Derek Phillips, Jason O’Mara

With a ton of hubbub from the get-go, Blood of Zeus on Netflix lives up to the hype. From the design to the simple story, the emotional investment in the characters, and stylish action sequences, Blood of Zeus manages to maintain that intrigue and urgency to continue watching till the end. It is proof that foreign stories made in the anime style can sell if written and executed well. If you too like action and fantasy, give this series a watch and you might have a pretty good time watching this epic unfold.

10. Cells at Work!

Creator – Akane Shimizu
Cast – Karen Strassman, Mamiko Noto

Preview Only: Cells at Work! is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Akane Shimizu and features the anthropomorphized cells of a human body, with the two main leads being a red blood cell and a white blood cell she frequently encounters.

9. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba

Creator – Koyoharu Gotouge
Cast – Natsuki Hanae, Zach Aguilar

Demon Slayer explores the story of a family which is attacked by demons, and only two survive – Tanjiro and his sister Nezuko, who is slowly turning into a demon. Eventually, Tanjiro sets out to become a demon slayer to avenge his family and cure his sister. Although this is a typical Shounen anime, the story is new when it comes to the characters, animation, and setting.

The action sequences were, of course, well-executed, and the narrative is well-paced and keeps you on the edge of your seat through and through. An interesting watch if you’re looking for a show that has the right amount of action, emotion, and thrill. One of the Best Anime Series on Netflix India.

8. Violet Evergarden

Writer – Kana Akatsuki
Cast – Yui Ishikawa, Raissa Bueno

In the aftermath of a great war, Violet Evergarden, a young female ex-soldier, gets a job at a writers’ agency and goes on assignments to create letters that can connect people. Right from the get-go, I was mesmerized by how beautiful the animation was. The opening music and the scores were also as beautiful and elevated the emotions.

However, the most beautiful thing was the stories between Violet and many characters where she made them reveal their real emotions as well as learn emotions herself. They were tear-jerking and touched me. Each of these independent stories demonstrated the theme of empathy and how complex emotions can be.

As for the problem, the overarching story of the ongoing war was pretty insignificant and was there only to move the plot forward. Still, the ending was satisfying and made me happy with its beautiful theme. Overall, a touching, sad, yet beautiful anime. – Nguyen Dang (@in_nguyen_do)

7. Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded

Creators – Yoshiyuki Tomino, Hajime Yatate
Cast – Bill Rogers, Adin Rudd

Season 1 of the show was very good. Some characters I didn’t care too much, but I liked the main duo the most. Their background wasn’t delved in too much, but there’s a feeling that they are very close. The theme of how corruption and inequality in the world ruin childhood innocence was explored well. Finally, the plot was fairly complicated with many parts that kept me intrigued. I enjoyed this first season quite a bit.

Season 2 was a lot better, in terms of story and action. There were more types of robots, and the fighting became more explosive and bloody. The stories became more complicated, as each small arch pushed the tension until the inevitable big fight happened. There were more desperation, as the squad of kids grew bigger and became more rogue.

The old theme of childhood innocence from previous season is still there, as well as changing the corrupted world and brining freedom. The ending was fitting and reflected the theme well. The biggest problem was the characters. Although the main characters were good, some secondary characters felt unnecessary and poorly-developed. Overall, really enjoyed the series. One of the Best Anime Series on Netflix India. – Nguyen Dang (@in_nguyen_do)

6. One-Punch Man S1

Creator – ONE
Cast – Makoto Furukawa, Kaito Ishikawa

The story of One Punch Man revolves around Saitama, who becomes the most powerful being but at the price of losing his hair. Despite the bland humor, the Season 1 of this series is quite compelling to watch, narrative-wise, and the action sequences were a treat to watch. Overall, One Punch Man is an entertaining watch for beginners and even for seasoned otakus. One of the Best Anime Series on Netflix India.

5. Toradora!

Creator – Yuyuko Takemiya
Cast – Rie Kugimiya,Junji Majima,Yui Horie

The 2008 Japanese anime series Toradora! explores the story of Ryuuji Takasu, a fierce yet gentle high school student who develops an unlikely friendship with Taiga, a tiny girl with a sharp tongue and a tough attitude. Together they try to help each confess their love to their crushes. With a likable story and characters that are developed properly, Toradora! is a fun watch, especially for people who like watching high-school anime with charming characters and good banter.

4. DEATH NOTE

Creator – Tsugumi Ohba
Cast – Mamoru Miyano, Brad Swaile

Preview Only: Ryuk (God of Death) decides to drops his death note on Earth, a notebook that possesses the power to kill anyone whose name is written in it, as long as the writer knows the full name and face of the one who is to die. Light Yagami, a genius high-school boy, picks up the notebook and then decides to get ‘rid the world of evil’ using the death note.

3. Neon Genesis Evangelion

Creator – Hideaki Anno
Cast – Megumi Ogata, Megumi Hayashibara

One of the Best Anime Series on Netflix India, Neon Genesis Evangelion stands out when compared to the rest for a wide variety of reasons. The storyline is about a teenage boy who finds himself recruited as part of an elite team of pilots by his father.

Back to the show, while it is about robots fighting aliens called angels, this anime has layers and is packed with scientific, cerebral, philosophical, and symbolic themes. Neon Genesis Evangelion is, without a doubt, one of the foundations in the realm of anime that can never be repeated as it leaves you with a feeling that leaves you oddly satisfied yet wanting more.

2. Naruto

Writer – Masashi Kishimoto
Cast – Junko Takeuchi, Chie Nakamura

Preview Only: Naruto is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Masashi Kishimoto. It tells the story of Naruto Uzumaki, a young ninja who seeks credit from his peers and hopes of becoming the Hokage, the head of his village. The story is told in two parts, the first set in Naruto’s pre-teen years, and the second in his teens. One of the Best Anime Series on Netflix India.

1. Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion S1-2

Writer – Masashi Kishimoto
Cast – Junko Takeuchi, Chie Nakamura

After being given a mysterious power to control others, an outcast prince becomes the leader of the rebellion against an all-powerful empire. Now, Season 1 was a great introduction to the series. We got an introduction to the philosophy and background of Lelouch, and why he hated the world. The storyline was not too complex, as I felt this was more of an opening that set up the series. The action, although wasn’t as focused as the plot, was still good and the designs for the mecha were cool. Now Season 2 is where all the pieces that were set up in S1 came together.

Plot-wise, there were lots of major players involved. However, none of them felt wasted, and almost all of the characters had a purpose in the overall scheme. The real ending was bittersweet, and I was satisfied with it. The endpoint for the main characters, especially Lelouch, made sense, and it made Lelouch one of the best protagonists that I have watched. The ending also showed significant themes about the cost of war, peace, and freedom, including sacrificing one’s humanity. One of the Best Anime Series on Netflix India. – Nguyen Dang (@in_nguyen_do)
