Director Arati Kadav’s Netflix release, Cargo, with Sci-Fi undertones, provides an emotional tale, told through the eyes of two rakshasas (demons), Prahastha (Vikrant Massey) and Yuvishka (Shweta Tripathi). With commendable performances from the two main leads, Cargo may not be a flawless attempt, as it certainly suffers from a few storytelling issues. Following the narrative of migrants from Northeast India in their attempt to organize a wedding party for their friend, Axone starring Sayani Gupta and Lin Laishram in the lead roles is unlike any mainstream cinema. It has its fair share of feel-good and funny moments, yet the ambition of making a statement against racism is showcased well.
The film takes time to adjust, and it might feel difficult for a certain set of an audience who anticipates a rapid-paced narrative. It is soft and works like a charm if you are patient and take time to notice the level of intimacy friends share and how they defend themselves in unfavorable situations.
