Top 5 Kollywood (Tamil) Movies Releasing in February 2019

February is a month of comebacks, each movie has someone coming back to do something they haven’t done in a very long time and also an interesting debut. Let’s look at the Top 5 Movies Releasing in February of 2019.

5. Sundar C’s – “Vantha Rajavathaan Varuven”

Release Date – February 1, 2019
Starring – STR and Megha Akash

Reasons to be Excited About – Remake of the Blockbuster Telugu film Attarintiki Daredi, Vandha Rajavathaan Varuvan escaped the Pongal race and avoided the clash with two biggies. This is Simbu’s solo hero movie after the disastrous film Anbanavan Asaradhavan Adangadhavan. The teaser wasn’t much impressive; Simbu looked bulked up and it seems to be another routine masala movie from Sundar C which can please certain class of audience.

4. Chandramouli’s – “100% Kadhal”

Release Date – February 14, 2019
Starring – G.V. Prakash and Shalini Pandey

Reasons to be Excited About – Remake of super-hit Telugu movie 100% Love. I really liked the original and look forward to this as this also marks the proper debut of Arjun Reddy fame Shalini Pandey in Tamil Cinema Industry. This film would make a solid movie to be a debut film as the female character had much scope and important role to perform in the original.

3. Rajeev Menon’s – “Sarvam Thaala Mayam”

Release Date – February 1, 2019
Starring – G.V. Prakash and Aparna

Reasons to be Excited About – Acclaimed director Rajeev Menon is back to films after 18 years with Sarvam Thaala Mayam. The movie is said to be a musical genre and A.R. Rahman almost composed nine songs, parts of the background score before the production began. Interestingly, Rajeev Menon has also scored one track.

2. Rajath Ravishankar’s – “Dev”

Release Date – February 14, 2019
Starring – Karthi, Rakul Preet Singh and Amrutha Srinivasan

Reasons to be Excited About – The trailer shows Karthi to be a daring biker, sporting the ‘Paiya’ look and it has been a long time since we saw him in such a chocolate boy role. This movie also pairs him with South Sensation Rakul Preet Singh once again. But I’m really looking forward to watching Amrutha Srinivasan (of Mental Mandhilo, Kallachiripu and Livin’ [web series] fame) onscreen.

1. Ram’s – “Peranbu”

Release Date – February 1, 2019
Starring – Mammootty, Anjali, and Samuthirakanni

Reasons to be Excited About – After several postponements, this film finally gets a release date. Peranbu is a Tamil-Malayalam bilingual with the Mollywood giant returning to Tamil cinema after 9 years. Peranbu had its world premiere at the International Film Festival Rotterdam and the Asian premiere at the Shanghai International Film Festival, China and received huge appreciations for its content, acting and filmmaking style of Ram. The teaser trailer of the film is very emotional, touching and sure to create a lasting effect on us.
