Top 8 Movies Releasing in September 2019

Labour Day, Grandparent’s Day, Teacher’s Day, the month of September has a lot going on when it comes to paying respect. However, no movies which are related to these holidays are releasing this month, but, there are many decent ones lined up. Last month (August), was more of an up and down month for movies with Mission Mangal overwhelming both the audience and the critics. Batla House, at the least, making a good change and Saaho proving to be an absolute turd-on-wheels. So, let’s move past August, and looking forward to September. Presenting the Top 8 Movies Releasing in September 2019.

8. Love Action Drama

Language – Malayalam
Release Date – September 13, 2019
Starring – Nayanthara and Nivin Pauly
Director – Dhyan Sreenivasan

With the Lady Superstar, Nayanthara returning to the Malayalam Film Industry, Love Action Drama seems to be a big release on the occasion of Onam. Also starring Nivin Pauly, the trailer suggests a flavor of rib-tickling comedy accompanied by charming romantic drama and everything you expect from a commercial film. Now, will it be successful and fare decently with the audience?

7. Dream Girl

Language – Hindi
Release Date – September 13, 2019
Starring – Ayushmann Khurrana and Nushrat Bharucha
Director – Raaj Shaandilyaa

Ayushmann Khurrana is back with yet another comedy-drama which feels more like an entertainer similar to his previous blockbuster hits, Badhaai Ho and Shubh Mangal Savdhan. Raaj Shaandilyaa, the experienced dialogue writer, will be directing the film for the first time in his tenure. Additionally, Nushrat Bharucha, as the female lead also adds some credibility to the film. So, let’s hope it turns out to be a decent entertainer.

6. Enai Noki Paayum Thota

Language – Tamil
Release Date – September 6, 2019
Starring – Dhanush and Megha Akash
Director – Gautham Vasudev Menon

Three years after the release of Achcham Enbadhu Madamaiyada, GVM’s latest directorial, ENPT looks like a perfect blend of all his previous films. The latest trailer showcased the four different modes Dhanush’s character goes through in the movie, which is once again, compelling for the most part. The delays and the postponed production schedules might remain as a stinker for the film, but, if the WOM is good all around, I call it a success.

5. Nani’s Gang Leader

Language – Telugu
Release Date – September 13, 2019
Starring – Nani
Director – Vikram K. Kumar

Nani’s next film after his successful venture with Jersey earlier this year, Gang Leader deals with a unique plot and interesting characters all around. The movie appears to be compelling, especially with Karthikeya playing the antagonist role. And it is also interesting to watch how Vikram K. Kumar will redeem himself from the failure of his last Telugu film, Hello starring Akhil Akkineni.

4. Rambo: Last Blood

Language – English
Release Date – September 20, 2019
Starring – Sylvester Stallone
Director – Adrian Grunberg

Sylvester Stallone’s return to prominence as he once again portrays the character we all know and love. With a simple plot point which reads “John Rambo travels to Mexico to save a friend’s daughter who has been kidnapped by the Mexican cartel.” The promos suggest an action-packed narrative, and we all have to wait and see how this movie fares with the audience.

3. IT: Chapter Two

Language – English
Release Date – September 6, 2019
Starring – James McAvoy, Jessica Chastain
Director – Andy Muschietti

One of the most anticipated horror movies, if not, the most anticipated movies of the entire year, IT: Chapter Two is the sequel to 2017 mega-blockbuster IT. Andy Muschietti returns to the director’s chair with a star-studded cast including powerhouses like James McAvoy and everyone’s favorite actress, Jessica Chastain. Set in 2016, 27 years after the events of the first film, the synopsis suggests that IT (Bill SkarsgÃ¥rd) will return stronger and crueler than ever. And I couldn’t more excited to watch this film opening day.

2. The Zoya Factor

Language – Hindi
Release Date – September 20, 2019
Cast – Sonam Kapoor Ahuja and Dulquer Salmaan
Director – Abhishek Sharma

Minimally adapted from a novel of the same name, The Zoya Factor with Sonam Kapoor Ahuja and Dulquer Salmaan in the lead roles seems to be a laugh riot as suggested by the trailers. Sonam’s role reminds me of her previous films like Dolly Ki Doli and Khoobsurat, and I think she fits the bill perfectly. Dulquer Salmaan’s role also seems promising at least for his second film after Karwaan, and I’m hoping that this film will deliver.

1. Chhichhore

Language – Hindi
Release Date – September 6, 2019
Cast – Sushanth Singh Rajput, Shraddha Kapoor
Director – Nitesh Tiwari

Nitesh Tiwari’s fourth directorial Chhichhore seems more like a comedic entertainer and is a contrasting film when compared to his previous film – Dangal. The storyline showcases the comradery and crackpot fun between a group of friends with a different twist and a stellar cast. As far as the promos go, everything looked extremely funny, and it’s been a while since we’ve seen a movie which weighs more on mature humor. Let’s hope that it doesn’t disappoint.
