Rush (2013) Review: An Intense High-Octane Drama!

Two Formula-One contenders racing head to head for their lives in a highly piercing drama built around fast cars and hot girls was “Rush”. Based on the real-life incidents, Rush depicts the lives of James Hunt and Niki Lauda, the world champions in Formula-One conspicuously known as the bitter rivals on the race track. The pain and exertion they’ve gone into in a certain period, taking inspiration from each other portray the main plot.

Contracted with over six years in each other’s lives, Rush dwells deep into the characters of Hunt and Lauda which makes the story more gripping and makes you feel more about these two characters. The passion and the desire to achieve what they want to blends well with the perfect pace and the no-nonsense action sequences in equidistant.

Director Ron Howard displayed the movie with great emotional values. Even though the focal point is about racing, Howard dramatically described the narrative complemented with brilliant performances for the most part. Exhibiting the terrifying accidents which happen on the race track, Howard was confident in his approach and was not withdrawn in any aspects.

Accompanied by Peter Morgan in the writing department, Howard didn’t disappoint the viewer and made it more considerate for them to watch the movie. Filled with some great camera work and tremendous score by Hans Zimmer, Rush was extremely exciting and responsive from start to finish.

The performances from the two leads were remarkable and promising. The distinct characters and thoughts they both shared on-screen added the extra bit of strength to the movie. And the on-screen chemistry between Hemsworth and Bruhl worked out extraordinarily and was quite exciting to watch.

To conclude, Rush is a well-made movie with the performances as its main strength, directing a biopic was never an easy task, but Howard does it with great ease portraying the characters with intense drama and was never dragged to any extent. I strongly recommend you to check it out even if you’re not an F1 fan.
