This has been one of my favourite films for a long time! I enjoy everything about it – the visuals, the soundtrack, the casting and the costumes. The cinematography is really beautiful and I feel as if I’ve been transported back in time to the roaring 20s. DiCaprio brings Jay Gatsby to life, and I really enjoy Tobey’s portrayal of Nick – I just love the casting of these guys together. However, Daisy is a character I will forever hate and never forgive.
Baz Luhrmann’s style fits so well with this film, enhancing how over the top and flashy Gatsby’s parties are and the chaotic editing. The soundtrack is also brilliant, including some remixes of great tracks. While it isn’t a perfect adaption from F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel, I still think it’s a wonderful movie and could easily rewatch it any time!
