Silence Can You Hear It? Review: A Low-Intensity Thriller That Keeps You Guessing!

Silence Can You Hear It Review: The success of a thriller film lies in a solid script, with a logical flow of events. It also requires the right way of building up the suspense so that the audience is completely taken off guard when the mystery is solved. However, sometimes due to the lack of one or more of these elements, thriller films may not work well with the audience.

One such film, which had the capability to be a brilliant film but failed to do so by a bit, is the 2021 Hindi language film Silence Can You Hear It? The film is written and directed by Aban Bharucha Deohans. The film stars Manoj Bajpayee, Prachi Desai, Arjun Mathur, Shishir Sharma, Sahil Vaid, Vaquar Sheikh, Barkha Singh, and others.

Silence Can You Hear It? follows a high-profile murder investigation. Pooja Choudhary (Barkha Singh), the daughter of former Justice Choudhary (Shishir Sharma), is murdered, and her body is found on a trekking site. She was a very close friend of Kavita Khanna, the wife of MLA Ravi Khanna (Arjun Mathur). Justice Choudhary requests the commissioner to give the investigation responsibility of this case to ACP Avinash Verma (Manoj Bajpayee), who is known to be a cop who solves cases by taking the rogue way.

He is assigned a team of three officers, which include Inspector Sanjana Bhatia (Prachi Desai), Inspector Amit Chauhan (Sahil Vaid), and Inspector Raj Gupta (Vaquar Sheikh). How the team works together, analyses the clues, collects proof, and finally nab the murderer is shown in the remaining part of the film.

Silence Can You Hear It? was made convincingly. There has been an honest attempt to write and direct an engaging thriller by Aban Bharucha Deohans. However, the script was a bit weak. When there is an attempt to make a perfect thriller, the audience is naturally interested to know more about the progress in the case and details of each clue and breakthroughs the cops get.

However, with the inclusion of sentiments and the forceful attempt to include humor in a very subtle manner, the film sidelines the main focus of the film. The film was a bit slow in some areas, which makes the audience lose interest. In a thriller film, you cannot afford to make the audience lose their interest because if such a thing occurs, it means that the film is failing to reach its goal of making the audience thrilled throughout the film.

Though the film was a bit slow in some areas, the question of ‘who the murderer is?’ was always there in my mind. Barring these issues in the writing, there was a good flow of events, which led to a good climax. The climax has the revelation of the mystery, and it is presented to the viewers brilliantly.

The cast has done a brilliant job in portraying their roles. Manoj Bajpayee’s performance as ACP Avinash Verma was excellent. We all are aware of the talent this man possesses and he doesn’t disappoint the viewers at all. He really gets into the skin of the character and delivers a stellar performance. Arjun Mathur as MLA Ravi Khanna was awesome. He carried a certain amount of intensity while portraying his character and was brilliant in doing so.

Certain scenes where Ravi has emotional outbursts are performed effortlessly by Arjun. Prachi Desai as Inspector Sanjana Bhatia too gave an effortless and natural performance. The remaining cast consisting of Shishir Sharma, Sahil Vaid, Barkha Singh, Vaquar Sheikh, and others also gave convincing performances. On the technical side, cinematography by Arvind Singh, editing by Sandeep Kumar Sethy, and background score by Gaurav Godkhindi were handled well to enhance the movie viewing experience.

As a whole, Silence Can You Hear It? is a well-crafted thriller. Though the script was a bit weak in certain areas, it was a winner in the climax. Great acting performances, a good story, and an intriguing background score make this film a good one to watch. This film is a one-time watch movie, which has all the elements of a decent thriller. The film is worth your time. I liked the film, and I believe you all will too. Watch ‘Silence Can You Hear It?’ on ZEE5 here.
