Sardar Ka Grandson Review: Neena Gupta’s Performance Keeps this Film Alive!
Sardar Ka Grandson is a 2021 Hindi-language Netflix Original directed by Kaashvi Nair and stars Arjun Kapoor and Rakul Preet Singh in the primary roles. It captures the essence of love and our attachment to materialistic things. But sometimes, it is also about the memories connected to those things.

The storyline of Sardar Ka Grandson revolves around a loving grandson, who starts on a complex yet comical journey to meet his sick grandma’s last wish. With a runtime of over two hours, the movie is a little slow, but Neena Gupta, who plays Sardar, makes it a worthwhile watch. Neena Gupta walks us through an emotional story captured within a very short time frame. And it was also phenomenal to see her as a 90-year-old Grandmother who is cranky yet the most fun being of the house.
Barring the acting skills of Arjun Kapoor, Sardar Ka Grandson has brought forth a unique concept of “structural relocation†that has not been the talk of the show. It was unique to peek into such technological advancement blended with love and emotion behind bringing that house. Arjun Kapoor tried to handle the humor with his bizarre acts, but the execution all went haywire.
But what can divert our attention are the roles of John Abraham and Aditi Rao Hydari who, play the younger versions of Sardar and Gursher Singh. They managed to take me on an emotional ride with their precise yet powerful story and connected with the audience emotionally through and through.
The Sardar of the movie, Neena Gupta, is what keeps this film alive. The way she pulled off the comical yet emotional side of her character is nothing short of extraordinary. Overall, Sardar ka Grandson may not be the best movie to keep on your watchlist, but it is a one-time watch to divert your mind from the pressing times of the pandemic.
