Joshiy’s Porinju Mariam Jose is an exquisite tale of three people Porinju (Joju), Mariam (Nyla Usha) and Jose (Chemban Vinod), their friendship from the school days. The original story is set in the 1980s with colors and flavors of rural Thrissur. Though the movie is filled with different emotions – friendship, love and revenge, the friendship stands tall among these. The movie gives an average experience with a predictable storyline, still, it’s worth a watch.


Mr. & Ms. Rowdy (2019)

Starring – Kalidas Jayaram, Aparna Balamurali
Director – Jeethu Joseph

Jeethu Joseph’s Mr. & Ms. Rowdy did not find any success at the box office this year as this average flick have quite a few friendship related themes stitched into it. The movie portrays the life of Appu (Kalidas Jayaram) and his gang, their life as local goons and their survival efforts to get rid of their miserable lives. The bond between the gang members is strong, and the only inner conflict is of being ‘decent fellows’ despite their goon persona.

Children’s Park (2019)

Starring – Vishnu Unnikrishnan, Sharaf U Dheen

Shafi’s Children’s Park is a comedy-drama and portrays the story of two friends Jerry (Vishnu Unnikrishnan) and Rishi (Dhruvan) who chase after money. Later, Lenin (Sharaf U Dheen) joins them offering help. It’s the story of three idiots which turns good for a good cause. One of the decent Malayalam Movies about Friendship.


B. Tech (2018)

Mridul Nair’s B. Tech is a youth-centric movie about engineering students with lazy attitudes. The eight-year-long academics of a bunch of B. Tech students led by Anand (Asif Ali). The movie very well portrays the relationship between the old gang and the new member Azad. In the eventful journey, these friends have something bad to face, which makes the rest of the movie.

Sudani from Nigeria (2018)

Starring – Soubin Shahir, Samuel Abiola Robinson
Director – Zakariya Mohammed

Zakaria’s Sudani from Nigeria is the award-winning best movie of 2018 with an extremely fresh script. The film has more to do with the drama revolved around Majeed (Soubin Shahir), a football manager and Samuel (Samuel Abiola Robinson), the football player who got injured.
