Produced collectively by Aashiq Abu, Jesna Ashim, and Harshad Ali, Halal Love Story stars Indrajith Sukumaran and Grace Antony in the lead roles accompanied by strong performances by Joju George and Sharafudheen. Halal Love Story Review

Packed within a runtime of 116 minutes, Zakariya Mohammed’s treatment for Halal Love Story seemed similar to what we have seen in his debut film, Sudani from Nigeria, but with an entirely different context. Muhsin Parari co-wrote the script with Zakariya, and they managed to produce yet another unadorned narrative with bits and pieces which showcases what life is like in Northern Kerala and is crafted with realistic detailing. The script gets across the different aspects of life, which was evident in the contrasting lives of Shereef and Siraj.

Furthermore, the situational comedic sequences in Halal Love Story maintained the entertainment quotient supplemented with the right amount of drama in the second half. A minor flaw in the script lies in the first half, where the movie was slow-paced, and the rich Muslim cultural elements may not be pleasing to everyone.

The splendid music by Bijibal and the vocals by Shahabaz Aman lifted the spirit of the film in the two beautifully pictured songs. And the original background score by Rex Vijayan also matched the mood of the movie. With mesmerizing elements of the village and the well-organized home decor, the production design is also decent inside and out. On the more technical side, cinematography by Ajay Menon and editing by the Saiju Sreedharan kept up with the high standards set by the aforementioned technical departments. Halal Love Story Review

The performance by Grace Antony as Suhra happens to be an impressive outing for her as she unleashed her career-best act in this movie. Indrajith Sukumaran matched up with Grace with his versatile acting skills and Joju George portrayed his character with the right amount of emotions and his counterpart, Sharafudheen carried his role with ease. Nazar Karutheny’s performance as Rahim, is also worth mentioning as his character had the on-screen time to enact a perfectly shaped character.
