Friends Reunion: Full of Tears, Laughter, Nostalgia and Secrets!

The blockbuster American Sitcom FRIENDS, starring Jennifer Aniston, David Schwimmer, Matt Le Blanc, Courtney Cox, Lisa Kudrow and Matthew Perry, ran for a decade, with 10 seasons and 236 episodes. Since the finale, the six cast members have been in a room all together only once until this reunion. Friends Reunion was a fun fest and an emotional roller coaster ride for the Friends fandom all across the globe.

Friends Reunion premiered on the streaming platform ZEE5 in India. It had three beautiful segments, which started with the main characters entering the original sets in Warner Bros. Studios. Watching them opening the purple door one more time made me so emotional. If you are saying that you were not crying, and smiling, then you are lying. It was difficult for me to write about it, but I tried talking about the best moments from this episode.

Mr. Heckles, Dr Richard, the Palm Twin, Janice…They All Made a Cameo!

When asked in the interview by James Corden who was the one with the loudest laugh and everybody pointed at Phoebe (Lisa Kudrow) and there comes Janice. OH MY GOD! I know right. I was so happy to see her. How can we all even forget her laugh. We all tried to mimic her at least once. GUILTY! They could not complete the reunion without Richard. We all had a smile when he came in. RIGHT?

THEY HAD A CRUSH ON EACH OTHER?

The biggest revelation was the fact that both David Schwimmer and Jennifer Aniston had an unconsummated crush on each other. *VISIBLY SCREAMING*. It was because they both were never single at the same time. Behind-the-scenes footage of them flirting with each other and just chilling around was unbearably sweet. The fact that they both persuaded their love and admiration for each other through Ross and Rachel is heartbreaking and beautiful at the same time. SHOCKED? I warned you.

The Fashion Show

FRIENDS created a trend back then with the costumes and hairstyles they wore on the show. Especially the wardrobe and hairdressing of Jennifer Aniston as Rachael Green. Friends Reunion also had a segment with a fashion show. But this fashion show was different. Several fashion models all wore the most iconic outfit from the shows. But stealing the show was Justin Bieber dressed in the Ross Geller Spudnik costume and the part where Matt le Blanc wore all of Mathew Perry and did the lunges, just like he did in the show.

Smelly Cat… Smelly Cat… What are they Feeding You?

Another small segment from Friends Reunion had Lisa Kudrow with Lady Gaga singing the legendary Smelly Cat from the show, and it left me in tears. YES AGAIN! I guess Lisa Kudrow is the only member who is as close to her character, Phoebe Buffay. Also, she is still funny. The part where while Lady Gaga was singing the song and Lisa uttered under her breath said, “I still think it’s better when it’s just me.” It was so damn funny, and it is always a treat watching her sing.

When They Talked About Their Feelings

The show was filmed with a live audience on the sets, and they all performed for them. They used to get live feedback. I was glad when Mathew was true to his feelings, and he thought that he would die if he did not get a laugh. Unfortunately, for some reasons, Matthew Perry could not talk for most of the show. Except towards the end.

In the 100 minutes runtime of Friends Reunion, I lived the entire ten seasons. The part where Courtney said, “Honestly, this will make me cry, but this will be the last time that we are asked about the show as a group that we will do this kike, we’re not going to do this (again) in 15 more years,” It broke my heart into millions of pieces. As a fan, I can say that watching FRIENDS isn’t just like watching a show, it is more about living with the characters.

PS: I still wish that the creators should have acknowledged the problematic areas of the show in the reunion.
