Any millennial would still stay that 90’s was unarguably the best decade to grow up. The only generation of people who had real fun in the outside world before digitalization took over and made everyone confined to their smart phones. The memories of the childhood spent playing in the streets, listening to songs in cassette tape, enjoying Sachin’s straight drive are still fresh. Comali is about Ravi (played by ‘Jeyam’ Ravi), who falls into Coma due to an accident while proposing his classmate and regains his consciousness 16 years later in 2016.

The movie later depicts how he copes up with his life after losing a great part during which the world has fast forwarded a lot in terms of technology and development. Everything is alien to him, but, his childhood friend Mani (Yogi Babu) takes utmost care of him and helps him with the new world he is facing.
The movie does take everyone back to our childhood, to our school days, a trip down our memory lane and make us relive the golden times of our lives. I had so much fun watching the movie, after a long time, a movie which had unadulterated comedy. All thanks to ‘Jeyam’ Ravi who was so innocent with his acting and gave his best performance after Thani Oruvan. Teaming up with Yogi Babu and other support cast, they were absolute fun on screen.
K.S. Ravi Kumar as a politician (present) and a small time thug (in the 90’s) also did his part for the comical relief. Kajal Aggarwal didn’t have much of scope in the movie and also her presence was easily forgettable. Debutant Pradeep Ranganathan does an amazing job with the screenplay, mixing the right ingredient at desired quantity to give this neat entertainer. Though the second half was bland and not very good, it was well balanced with the addition of humor, sentiment and a subtle social message towards the end of the film.
Comali is probably the only film, which I can whole-heartedly call as an entertainer. Watch it for its nostalgic scenes, fine comedy and a solid two and half hour entertainment.

Just watched it yesterday, and had a really good fun. Started with laughter and ends with emotions. Jeyam Ravi and Yogi Babu was too good .
