Marking as the third collaboration between Thalapathy Vijay and soon-to-be superstar director, Atlee Kumar, Bigil co-starring Nayanthara as the female lead is all set to hit the silver screen on Diwali and is most definitely, on track to be the biggest hit of 2019. With the film’s trailer already hitting two million likes on YouTube, the audience (especially Vijay’s admirers) are super hyped for the release as they should be.
Therefore, with all the hype and excitement between the audience, I thought it would be a decent idea to break down the reasons why Bigil will be the Biggest Hit of Kollywood in 2019.

First off, judging from the trailers of Bigil, it is safe to say that visually looks grand and spectacular. G. K. Vishnu’s cinematography, production design and the visual effects enhanced the experience and asserted the fact that this film will look the part. The overview shots of the Football stadium, the training montages and the action sequences looked titanic as I’m sure that they will appear even better on the big screen.
As King Khan suggested in his initial tweet promoting the trailer, Bigil had all the hallmarks of Chak De India, but, on steroids. And I couldn’t agree more as the movie carried similar to Chak De India at times. But, more importantly, the Football-centric theme based around female athletes brings more appeal to this film.
As we’re starting to witness quite a few strong women-centric movies coming out every year, it is delightful to see a Superstar like Thalapathy Vijay starring in a movie which showcases women empowerment. That makes things even better and brings more awareness.
Like it or not, Lady Superstar Nayanthara’s involvement in the movie only elevates its chances of becoming an even bigger hit. Widely known for her women-centric films like Kolamavu Kokila, Imaikkaa Nodigal and Aramm, she as a remarkable talent and having her star as the lead role is positive for the overall film. Furthermore, Nayanthara also starred in a significant character in Atlee’s debut film, Raja Rani and I’m sure about her playing a more impactful character in their second collaboration.
Having already worked with Atlee previously in two blockbuster movies, Theri and Mersal, it is indeed a no-brainer for Vijay to once again work the third film with a director holding a 100% success rate. However, here’s the million-dollar question: Will this be a Hatrick for this blockbuster duo? So far, going by the trailers and the pure anticipation levels of the audience, I’m guessing it is certainly very much possible. But, things can go south pretty quickly in any situation, so, let’s keep our heads straight and hope for the best.
Just his screen presence alone will bring the audience pouring into the movie theatres as Bigil is well-equipped and set to cross that 300 crore mark comfortably. A guy of his stature and following is profitable to all the producers and distributors of the film, and lately, Vijay seems to understand the pulse of his audience a bit well and is doing more films which convey a social message.
Similar to Mahesh Babu in Tollywood and his films like Maharshi, Vijay realized how to blend in significant themes with commercial elements and Bigil looks no different. But, then again, they know exactly why people come to see a movie in the theatre.
