Top 5 Best Directors of Malayalam Cinema: Over the years, Malayalam Film Industry has produced some of the best directors who even made their way to Bollywood. There were a few exceptional directors, namely Padmarajan, Bharathan and their classics are still being remade for the newer generation. However, in recent times, a series of young directors changed the entire landscape of the industry with realistic movies and contemporary filmmaking style. He directed films in all genres like romance, action, drama and realistic movies. His 2019 film, Virus, based on true events about the Nipah virus outbreak in Kerala did not akin to much political drama and showcased the real-struggle of the people skillfully. It most certainly is one of the game-changing movies in recent times, and we expect nothing less from Aashiq as he always loves tackling diverse stories.

3. Khalid Rahman

Khalid Rahman is a young talent and can undoubtedly be called one of the Best Directors of Malayalam Cinema. His 2019 directorial, Unda, a realistic police-drama had reached a wide-spread of the audience as it rightfully deserves. And his debut film Anuraga Karikkin Vellam starring Asif Ali is a romantic drama that is entirely different from his 2019 film. However, in both his movies, Khalid Rahman tried to keep it sweet and simple, which is the most appealing aspect.

He had delivered one of the best movies of the year in Ambili which similar to his debut movie Guppy has the same level of simplicity and goodness. Additionally, he remarkably showcases the motto of “Life in its True Colors.” And also bags the true directional skill which he acquired by working as an associate to Rajesh Pillai. Scripts written by himself adds to the value of a movie, and he is one of the very few directors who will not disappoint you anytime.

1. Jis Joy
