These are the lifelines of a person and have their importance. The main question is which is more important?

1. Dil Chahta Hai

Starring – Aamir, Saif, Akshaye & Preity
Director – Farhan Akhtar
Streaming – Netflix

[Also featured in Adi’s ’20 Most Rewatchable Bollywood Movies’ list]

First on the list of the Best Bollywood Movies on Friendship, Dil Chahta Hai introduced us to a prodigy of Bollywood in Farhan Akhtar. Even though he is the product of nepotism Dil Chahta Hai was a commendable effort. Star kids do get help and support from their parents. This could be any kind of help – knowledge of films, better reach, and knowledge for technicians, help in the script, and others apart from contacts and knowing the who’s who of the B-town.

Keeping that thought aside, Dil Chahta Hai is a masterpiece, and I thoroughly enjoyed watching it. It showed how love and friendship run parallel to each other. Due to the support of his friends Akash (Aamir Khan) persists to get Shalini (Preity Zinta) back from her marriage! Friends do come in handy sometimes.

2. Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara

Starring – Hrithik, Abhay, Farhan & Katrina
Director – Zoya Akhtar
Streaming – Netflix

[‘ZNMD’ is also featured in our ‘Best Bollywood Movies on Netflix’ list]

Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara is a beautiful story penned by Zoya Akhtar, and without a doubt, one of the Best Bollywood Movies on Friendship. It showcases a beautiful friendship between the three leads that maneuvers through time and comes out strong. They plan a trip together and go through the experience of a lifetime. Hrithik Roshan ends up meeting his soulmate (Katrina Kaif), and Abhay Deol realizes that he deserves better. Without getting into the details on who is right or wrong, this friendship trip did make a mark in their lives.

3. Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety

Starring – Kartik Aaryan, Sunny Singh & Nushrat Bharucha
Director – Luv Ranjan
Streaming – Amazon

[Also featured in our ‘Best Bollywood Movies on Amazon Prime’ list]

Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety portrays the bond between Sonu and Titu, which is the most important aspect of their lives. The childhood best friends who can even take a bullet for each other. Titu gets engaged to Sweety while Sonu finds out that she is a golddigger. The story progresses as he tries to save his friend from getting into trouble because of her. Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety beautifully displayed how valuable and deep friendship means to them.

4. Pyaar Ka Punchnama

Starring – Kartik Aaryan, Divyenndu, Raayo S. Bakhirta
Director – Luv Ranjan
Streaming Platform – Netflix

Pyaar Ka Punchnama is once again based on three friends and their journey of falling in love with their dates. Luv Ranjan went overboard in showcasing the girl’s selfish mindset. However, it was necessary to get that tad bit of laughter and suffice with the song “Ban Gaya Kutta!” Having said that, the plot of the film is brilliant and fun. Ranjan displayed his immense talent and introduced us to three shining stars in the form of the male leads. Divyenndu steals the show and his character “Liquid” was widely appreciated back in the day. Especially at the beginning of the film, where he and his pals argue with each other at the Dhaba was a viewer’s delight.

5. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai

Starring – Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol Devgn & Rani Mukerji
Director – Karan Johar
Streaming – Amazon

Marking as the debut of Karan Johar as a director, it is evident that he had put his blood and sweat behind this movie. Not just him, even Shah Rukh Khan supported him wonderfully and his efforts can be seen. Moving on, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai claims that “Pyaar Dosti Hai.” Something that Rahul repeats again and again in the movie. Tina can see the immense love that Anjali has for Rahul, and tries to get out-of-the-way, eventually.

This is a very beautiful portrayal of friendship and love. If he is her best friend, only then they can be the best soulmates. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai is a beautiful story of friendship and love between Rahul and Anjali and it is the cookie cutter example when it comes to the Best Bollywood Movies on Friendship.

6. Ae Dil Hai Mushkil

Starring – Ranbir Kapoor & Anushka Sharma
Director – Karan Johar
Streaming – Amazon

[Also feat. in our ‘Best Bollywood Movies on Amazon Prime’ list]

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil beautifully illustrates the friendship between Ayan and Alizeh that goes through ups and downs. They share a great bond because of their love for Bollywood movies and their whimsical attitudes. Eventually, Ayan falls in love with her and leaves no stone unturned to get her. Things didn’t work out as per him and he ended up shattered. His true friendship did not turn into true love. The best scenes in the movie are the ones between Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma as the chemistry that they shared elevated the movie from start to finish.
