Athade Srimannarayana Review: A Visual Entertainer!

Directed by Sachin Ravi, Athade Srimannarayana on AHA Video starring Rakshit Shetty and Shanvi Srivastava in the lead roles explores the story of Inspector Narayana, who tries to unravel the secrecy behind a treasure that has gone missing for years. However, Jayarama (Balaji Manohar), a local gangster, manages to place numerous obstacles in his way.

Set in the 1980s, in a fantasy world, Athade Srimannarayana is slow in its approach and takes time to set the tone of the overall narrative. But, once settled, there are many entertaining moments that will keep you delighted inside and out. Also backed by a few decent performances and a well-written screenplay by a team of writers, one of the few problems of this film is that it doesn’t elevate itself to the next level that could’ve made the movie a lot better.

On the negative side of Athade Srimannarayana, the comedic aspects of the film work in parts but mainly falls through on the whole. Additionally, the runtime could’ve been trimmed for about twenty to thirty minutes in the cutting room floor as the climax felt tedious to watch by the very end.

On to the performances, Rakshit Shetty, as the mischievous yet confident Inspector Narayana, is a stand-out in the film and is a delight to watch. The female lead, Shanvi Srivatsava, and Achyuth Kumar portray their well-written characters effortlessly alongside Balaji Manohar as the antagonist.

On the technical side, Athade Srimannarayana is top-notch, especially the production design that creates a unique fantasy world that has gorgeous detailing and maintains a novel vibe. Karm Chawla works well with the camera and makes his presence known and Ajaneesh Loknath’s music works well with the narrative.

Overall, Athade Srimannarayana has its moments that are entertaining to watch. The performances and the technical aspects also make the movie look different than the traditional Kannada films we often watch, however, the 184-minute runtime makes the film a bit tough to watch. But, if you’re all for a diverse Sandalwood fantasy-adventure, then this is not that bad of a pick.
