Featuring a splendid cast including Christian Bale, Amy Adams, Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence and Jeremy Renner, the performances from every one of them were remarkable. Christian Bale disappears into his role and is nearly recognizable. Amy Adams, who plays the Bale’s love interest, Sydney Prosser in the film gave her career-best performance as she is sexy, convincing, and truthful to her role. The remaining cast members comprising of Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence and Jeremy Renner also did an amazing job as each one of them had a moment to shine in brief subplots.
The direction by David O. Russell was stunning. The style and the tone of this film were quite different when compared to his previous films, but, the wittiness and humour stills remained the same. However, the script diverges a little from its primary storyline during the second act, which dampened the overall product a tad bit. However, despite that, the third act revives the story back on track.
The dialogues were also precisely written for certain moments and are well thought out and delivered. More on the positive side of things, shoutout to the soundtrack, which reflects and suits the 70s tone of the movie perfectly.
All things considered, American Hustle is a remarkable film powered by amazing performances and impeccable writing. It indeed had some low moments, but, the convincing climax makes up for it. Watch American Hustle on Netflix here.
