Plan A Plan B Review: No Plan B To Survive From Plan A’s Mediocrity!

Shashanka Ghosh’s Plan A Plan B brings together Riteish Deshmukh and Tamannaah Bhatia as the lead pair for the first time on-screen. Rom-Com is one of the most loved genres for Bollywood filmmakers, but sadly, we’ve watched almost every theory that could have. This Netflix Original had a fresh pair, a new subject, and a vibe but lacked some fresh storytelling. It plays so safely that it forgets to add something of its own and makes you feel bored. However, it never falls too deep in the bland Bollywood hole and doesn’t become a tiring watch, so if you at least want to pass time with a relaxed smile, you know what to do.

Plan A Plan B revolves around Kosty Chougule, a divorce lawyer and an expert at dividing couples as per their wishes, and Nirali, a matchmaker who runs a matrimonial service and has her office located next to Kosty. With differing jobs and viewpoints, after the initial arguments, they begin to get along and get to know each other well, and eventually, the story goes through a few hoops to end well on a happy note.

Written by Rajat Arora, this movie has a Plan A working right but doesn’t have any Plan B to survive the regular typicality. The screenplay still has enough engaging scenes to keep you interested, and there were no dull moments except for a few songs. As we know, relationships are complex subjects, and everyone has a different thought process to it, so although Arora had a difficult road to navigate and be a standout, he did a decent job writing.

Riteish Deshmukh, as a performer, was offered something different on his platter this time as he plays a very vibrant guy with intensity and a mix of romance and comedy. Tamannaah, a prolific actress down South, is very easy on the eyes and dials up that glamor quotient in a relatable role. And her character, Nirali, is in contrast and more fitting to the one she played in Babli Bouncer. Plan A Plan B had scope for good music, especially for a rom-com, but it isn’t anywhere near exciting and did not create any vibe. Riteish’s dance moves and Tamannaah’s glam appeal may save the dance numbers, but it could’ve been better.

Director Shashanka Ghosh’s storytelling lacks crispness and a new flavor. However, Plan A Plan B isn’t a big let down. It had some good moments which will entertain you. Additionally, Ritiesh Deshmukh and Tamannaah are charismatic as a couple. Overall, a decent, light-hearted watch on Netflix.
