The brand new face in Bollywood – Mrunal Thakur is on a quite a roll lately signing back to back movies from Toofan to Jersey. Mrunal’s first breakthrough role in Super 30 opened the door to multiple films as she is seen in movies like Batla House and the Netflix horror anthology – Ghost Stories. Although, she doesn’t offer much on the glamour side of things, Mrunal’s acting skills can make her stand out from the rest, similar to other unorthodox talented actresses like Radhika Apte, etc. So, as Bollywood welcomes a new face, here are the 7 Interesting Facts about Mrunal Thakur which you should know about.

1. Humble Beginnings

Born in Nagpur, Mrunal Thakur is the daughter of Uday Singh Thakur, an Assistant General Manager in Union Bank of India, and her mother is a housewife. Her brother Mandar is a student, and her sister Lochan Thakur is a makeup artist by profession. She is socially active under the name “Miss Blender.” Born in a Marathi family Mrunal Thakur always dreamt of being an actress. She was strongly supported by her family which according to her, are the pillars of her life. She started her acting career while she was in college and made her television debut with the portrayal of Gauri Bhosale in the TV show – Mujhse Kuch Kehti…Ye Khamoshiyaan opposite Mohit Sehgal.


2. Nope. Yash Raj!

Surprisingly after watching her performance in the International film – Love Sonia, Mrunal Thakur was offered a three-movie deal by Yash Raj Films. This deal included a role in the movie Thugs of Hindostan. She was smart enough to decline this deal (something the collections of Thugs of Hindustan would confirm) assuming it would have a negative effect on her international career.


3. Personal Life and Relationships

Mrunal Thakur has had her share of romantic relationships as well. She is allegedly dating writer Sharad Chandra Tripathi known for writing scripts for TV dramas like Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kasauti Zindagi Ki, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki, to name a few. She also took part in a dance reality show along with Sharad. There were also rumors of her dating Kum Kum Bhagya co-actor Arjit Taneja. However, Arjit came to the forefront and dismissed them.



4. Worked on an Indonesian Project

One thing which is sure is that she is endowed with talent. This is perfectly exemplified by her work in an Indonesian soap opera Tuyul & Mbak Yul Reborn. Her Kum Kum Bhagya co-actor Arjit Taneja also acted in the same opera along with her.


5. A Strong Debut!

She debuted in the Hindi film industry with a path breaking movie – Love Sonia. It did not do very well in terms of the numbers but was critically acclaimed. Her performance was appreciated by everyone. To make your performance count in a movie which also has actors like Manoj Bajpayee and Rajkummar Rao is not easy. However, she did her best.

6. Big Karan Johar Fan

She got a chance to work in the show Ghost Stories under the direction of Karan Johar. It was an amazing experience for her which she still cherishes. She is a great admirer of Karan Johar and she thinks working with him has been her greatest achievement to date. She is grateful to Karan Johar for working with her and loses no chance to thank him.


7. Animal, Nature and a Cricket Admirer

She is an avid animal lover and feels they have a special place in her heart. This is best seen by her association with animal care NGOs. She is a natural person and makes sure to do her little bit necessary for the environment. She has been part of various beach clean drives and other similar initiatives. She was also a part of the “Celebrate Republic Day on Beach” drive. Also, she is an avid cricket lover. Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli are her favorite cricketers.
