8. Athiran

Vivek’s Athiran is a thriller with the plot revolving around a privately-run isolated mental asylum. Dr. Kannan Nair (Fahadh Faasil) is appointed to safeguard and monitor the mental asylum run by Dr. Benjamin Diaz (Atul Kulkarni). Dr. Nair who is not happy with Diaz’s treatment methods goes around to find the flaws. Fahadh Faasil gives an exceptional performance in playing a character that is filled with diversified emotions.


7. Maheshinte Prathikaram

Directed by Dileesh Pothan, Maheshinte Prathikaram revolutionized the perspective of pragmatic filmmaking in the Malayalam Cinema. Mahesh Bhavana (Fahadh Faasil), lives in a modest outset as a photographer in a small village in Idukki and he had nothing extraordinary in his life, except being dumped by a girl. A petty issue becomes serious, and things get intriguing when Mahesh is planning revenge, which grips into a tale with exhilarating drama. Mahesh Bhavana had a distinctive characterization compared to any Fahadh Faasil’s prior characters, and this role inspired the success of movies released thereafter.

Anil Radhakrishnan Menon’s North 24 Kaatham pictures the travel of three people who accidentally met on a harthal day. Harikrishnan (Fahadh Faasill) who works in a software firm having Obsessive-compulsive personality disorder (OCPD) is sent to Trivandrum for a meeting, and on his journey, he encounters Narayani (Swathi Reddy) and Gopalan (Nedumudi Venu). Due to an emergency issue, Gopalan deboards en route to Trivandrum and the remaining two continue with the journey. Fahadh Faasill has portrayed the role of an OCPD sufferer flawlessly having weird mannerisms. This movie is one of the underrated movies of Fahadh Faasill in his illustrious career.


5. Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum

Director – Dileesh Pothan
Genre – Drama
Streaming Platform – Hostar

Dileesh Pothan’s Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum is a realistic story revolving around a gold chain robbery. Prasad (Suraj Venjaramoodu) and Sreeja (Nimisha Sajayan) who come across each other due to a small misunderstanding, later develop a beautiful relationship. They move on from their native place – Vaikom to a rural area in Kasargod. Eventually, they encounter the events of the robbery and the involvement of the cops form the remainder of the story. Fahadh Faasil plays the role of thief – Prasad and he portrayed his role perfectly.

4. Oru Indian Pranayakadha

Satyan Anthikkad’s Oru Indian Pranayakadha portrays the story of Ayamanam Sidharthan (Fahadh Faasil), who aims high for his political career. His life starts making changes after meeting Irene (Amala Paul). Irene is in search of her past, and their time together lights up the good in Ayamanam Sidharthan. Fahadh Faasil broke his typical style and with this movie, and proved that he can handle the comedy with ease. This movie had a great impact on marking Fahadh in the hearts of the family audience.


3. Kumbalangi Nights

Kumbalangi Nights is one of Malayalam cinema’s biggest hits of this year and one of the most beloved and Best Malayalam Movies of 2019. Starring Fahadh Faasil in the lead role (also the producer of the film), the storyline of the film revolves around four brothers and their love-hate relationship in a 135-minute family-drama. Leading the cast with a magnificent performance Fahadh’s ability to transform into this wicked character was worth mentioning alongside the supporting cast who help and complement the narrative remarkably. The striking cinematography and the euphonious music also make Kumbalangi Nights more distinguished and stand apart from all the other movies released this year. A must watch!

Anwar Rasheed’s Trance was one of the most awaited movies of 2020 for all the right reasons, and the film fulfilled the audience’s expectations by giving a beautiful treat and entertaining from start to finish. The movie revolves around a motivational speaker Viju Prasad (Fahadh Faasil), and his extraordinary adventures.

Trance is all about the stylish, power-packed performance by Fahadh Faasil backed by some commendable display from the supporting cast. And the narrative had an extraordinary bold approach and an admirable visual ecstasy. Despite some pacing issues, Trance is still worth a watch at any given time.


1. Iyobinte Pusthakam

Director – Amal Neerad
Genre – Period Thriller

Amal Neerad’s Iyobinte Pusthakam is set in the 1900s in Munnar, and Fahadh Faasil plays the role of Aloshy, one of the sons of Iyob (Lal). Iyob was an obedient worker under a British-man Harrison, and after his return to the native country, Iyob unlawfully acquires his property. Aloshy who flees from home at a young after witnessing a crime by his brothers joins the Indian Navy, and later he is sacked due to left-centric Independence movements. Once back home, the rivalry between Aloshy and his siblings makes the rest of the story. Iyobinte Pusthakam is a visually stunning movie that marked the mass appeal of Fahadh Faasil.
