Ted S1 Review: A Shining Beacon of Hilarity!

I never would have believed that I would enjoy a spinoff series from Seth Macfarlane’s Ted movies. The movies themselves were fine, and I remember scenes that did make me laugh, but they aren’t among the greatest comedic films ever made. Among these Ted properties, and even including Macfarlane’s other work like Family Guy, Season 1 of Ted is a shining beacon of hilarity.

I found Ted S1 to be unbelievably hilarious. It’s a show that made me laugh with every episode, never wearing itself out or overstaying its welcome. A lot of it was delivered strictly through Macfarlane. Now, I’m thinking that it might just be the tired gimmicks of Family Guy that turned me against him, but this man can deliver some effective comedy.

The Ted character is played tremendously well, and the visual effects that brings him to life are managed greatly. The cursing teddy bear isn’t the only appeal with this show, however. Max Burkholder as a younger Mark Wahlberg is great, along with supporting performances from Giorgia Whingham, Alanna Ubach, and Scott Grimes as Matty Bennett.

Each episode can properly balance the plot between these characters, making them entertaining and endearing through their own merits. Between the two movies and this show, Season 1 of Ted is easily the best of ‘em. It does not fail to be lethally hilarious with the entire cast channeling their talents through these characters. “What do you mean they got him?”
