Sweet Girl Review: A Total Waste of Time!

Sweet Girl is a 2021 Netflix thriller starring Jason Momoa and Isabela Merced in the primary roles explores the story of Ray Cooper and his daughter Rachel, who set out to get justice after his wife passes away from cancer because of the corruption from a pharma company.

First off, thereâ€™s not much to say about Sweet Girl on Netflix. The story and the screenplay were conventional, generic, and, for the most part, predictable. However, the action scenes were decently choreographed, and the shaky camera could’ve been avoided, in my opinion.

On the other hand, the two leads, Jason Momoa (Aquaman) and Isabela Merced (Dora the Explorer), offered decent performances. But it wasnâ€™t anything impressive because the script and the story for the characters were again straightforward. And as a result, the first half of Sweet Girl was mostly tedious for me.

However, just as I thought that Sweet Girl would eventually fade into the dust due to how mediocre and unexciting it was. The big twist, in the end, that’s assumed to shock the audience caught me off guard, but because of how stupid and unnecessary it felt. There was almost no impact on the plot of the story, which could have progressed the same way without the twist. After this, the rest of the movie was again formulaic and did not feel right at all.

Overall, Sweet Girl on Netflix is, for the most part, a mediocre thriller, and instead of just remembering it as a forgettable movie, I now truly hate this Brian Andrew Mendoza directorial for consuming 110 minutes of my costly time. Sweet describes the charismatic Jason Momoa, but definitely not this movie. Watch ‘Sweet Girl’ on Netflix here.
