Stillwater & The Last Letter from Your Lover – Movie Reviews
Stillwater is a drama where Matt Damon, as a father, flew to Marseille to bring justice for his daughter, who was wrongly accused of murder, while meeting with people that would help him. With the runtime of almost 140 minutes, I was surprisingly engaged throughout the whole movie.

The first half of Stillwater was enjoyable, where Matt Damon lived with a new family in Marseille, and it was sweet to see the character dynamic. There were also some funny scenes and conversations that made their relationship even more investing. The primary crime story with the father and daughter was also pretty good, and again, I was invested to see how it would turn out.
Matt Damon was again good in his role. He captured the tragic father role really well, who went through bad things in life. However, for the narrative and theme, many elements in Stillwater were predictable, particularly for the ones who were aware of the Amanda Knox story.
Also, there was a theme about life and how brutal it was. And I don’t think Tom McCarthy narrated this theme well, and I would not even see this as the primary theme if not for the characters saying it out loud. Overall, still, a good story that I was invested in, but the themes could have been more impactful. Stillwater is a decent watch.

A journalist finds a letter between two lovers from the 1960s. So, I did not have a lot of expectations for this movie going in, but I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. The Last Letter from Your Lover on Netflix was a decent and charming film.
I loved the parallels, the two love stories that brought two lovers together. It is super sweet, I love handwritten notes, and the movie was centered around it. Plus, the language that they used was super adorable, it always gets to me.
However, the movie puts forth a conundrum that has been talked about a lot. Is it okay to have an affair with someone if you’re married, even if the person you’re cheating with is the love of your life? Personally, I don’t think it’s okay. Like you make a commitment with someone and then break that commitment, if you’re unhappy, you should end things rather than starting something else.

That was the only thing that I didn’t like, plus, movies like these paint cheating in a very positive light which isn’t something that needs to be enforced. So, it’s completely up to you if you want to watch it or not. Watch the movie on Netflix here.
