I had some heavily divisive thoughts on the first Space Jam movie, but I ultimately found it beneficial for the nostalgic value and a few fun quirks, even if it is not necessarily a legitimately good film. I was dreading Space Jam: A New Legacy upon its release, and I had every right to do so. This thing is an abomination.

Space Jam: A New Legacy plays out kind of similar to the first, with a few new plot threats wound in there. LeBron James is a bad dad, and he and his son are transported to the Warner Bros Cinematic Universe, in which LeBron must face off in a basketball game against Don Cheadle and “The Goon Squad.”
Honestly, the story is so bland and cliché that I have no passion to really tear it apart. The characters are all thoroughly unlikeable and obnoxious. LeBron James and the rest of the human characters are stupid individuals, and the Looney Tunes have just been completely butchered.
All the acting, whether it be a live-action or a voice actor, is toilet water level. The dialogue is some of the hammiest and cheapest lines someone could ever think of. The movie is just not appealing to even look at, as it is a visual eyesore too confusing to comprehend. The computer graphics are primarily appalling, sporting some VFX similar to The Scorpion King.
This movie is a completely joyless experience, save for maybe a few zingers. It very much comes off as a transparent PR move, resorting to basic references and cultural fads that have become outdated. Seriously, the amount of pointless references in this movie is absurd, featuring a massive number of cameos from King Kong, Game of Thrones, DC Comics, The Matrix, and even Rick and Morty for absolutely no reason.

Since the director was the one who committed the war crime that is Scary Movie V, he very well exercises the false belief that random references with no purposeful context are funny. Truly, the work of a complete amateur. Overall, Space Jam: A New Legacy is more of a foul stain on any goodwill to be found in the original. It is desperate, lazy, aimless, and nauseating.
