Sky Rojo 2 Review: High Adrenaline & Action at it’s Best!

Sky Rojo 2 picks up right after the events of Season 1 with the girls determined to destroy Romeo and take their lives back. Just when it appears that they may have the upper hand against him and his minions, overconfidence quickly spoils the party. We’re right back to the old cat and mouse chase when things take a sticky turn.

Before I give my thoughts on Sky Rojo 2, I want to mention that this show is very highbrow. And, even for me and it can be very triggering. It depicts graphic scenes of violence, and a lot more, especially against women, so here’s my fair warning.

With that being said, Sky Rojo 2 certainly knows how to keep its viewers on the edge of their seats with the overly dramatic action scenes and plot twists. The bullet-dodging scenes were a bit unrealistic but entertaining all the same. The costumes always stood out to me, especially the girls’ as what they wear largely display their personalities.

I loved the further character development of Sky Rojo 2. The thing is, I really doubt that even if Romeo wasn’t chasing them across the country, these three would ever live an ordinary life. Wendy and Gina, maybe, but not Coral. I’m pretty sure she enjoys the con. Coral is not a victim.

However, Coral’s real problem is that her overconfidence usually ensnares her. Her emotions inevitably erode her judgment. (As does her drug use.) When you’re playing with dangerous men such as the likes of Romeo and Moises, sometimes too far is…too far.

What’s also interesting is that we come to know that Romeo has just as much of a hold on the brothers as he does on the girls. And this doesn’t excuse them, however, these men are truly disgusting. It’s like taking the absolute worst of the male species and displaying it on a series. They’re hyper masculine in the worst way, and both Romeo and Moises have been duped (multiple times) by Coral. I guess that’s why they’re so fixated on her. To call any of it love would be too wild.

Overall, Sky Rojo 2 is an entertaining show on Netflix from the beginning to the end, and there’s no doubt about that. However, I worry about its direction. It could very well be another five-season story like La Casa De Papel (Money Heist), but I feel like this is definitely Alex Pina’s style. Lots of adrenaline and action, but the end goal always seems a bit obscure. Watch ‘Sky Rojo 2’ on Netflix here.
