Nerkonda Paarvai Review: A Perfect Remake!
Initially, I was a little sceptical about the idea of Ajith agreeing to act in the remake of Bollywood super-hit film. Pink had Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu in the lead roles. Ajith is someone who has a crazy fan following, the image of a commercial actor and didn’t think it would do justice for him. But, director H. Vinoth proved me wrong, and Nerkonda Paarvai is one of the finest remakes I’ve ever seen. With the screenplay skilfully sketched to satisfy Ajith’s fandom and as well as retain the essence of the original.

Ajith portrays the role of Lawyer Bharath Subramaniam who appears in various public issue related cases. He frequently suffers from mental breakdowns and bipolar issues due to which he stays away from the court atmosphere. Eventually, he decides to help his neighbourhood girls when they are falsely accused and charged by boys who hail from a wealthy background. The plot goes on how Bharath manages to crack the case and frees the girls, inferring messages from happenings which are apposed to be true.
For the past few years, Ajith worked consistently with Director Siva in back to back mundane films from Vivegam to Viswasam. With Nerkonda Paarvai, it felt refreshing to watch him work with a different director in H. Vinoth. And on a positive note, this will remain as one of the best films in his career. We are noticing top-billed actors, who are going through a phase change in their career, and this would be a perfect example to others to handle that change.
Moving on, I felt, Shraddha Srinath wasn’t as good as Taapsee Pannu, but, she did give her best to the role. It was the dubbing which felt very weird as the voice was much louder than her expressions. The other two ladies, Abirami and Andrea Tariang (reprising her role from the original) were decent enough with their performances. Celebrated journalist, Rangaraj Pandey steps into the film industry with this film, and I should say that he does have a great future in the industry as he impressed me with his high-quality performance.
Yuvan Shankar Raja was once again exceptional with his background score. Especially during the fight sequence before the interval, where he made sure the scene increases everyone’s pulse with his electrifying BGM. On the other hand, during the song Agaladhey, Nirav Shah’s magic with the camera can be noticed.

Finally, this is the film, the changeover everyone was expecting from Ajith Kumar. And with the help of Director H. Vinoth, he has flawlessly delivered it with Nerkonda Paarvai. In the era, where people do a scene-by-scene remake, the filmmaker has understood what the viewers anticipate, the scope of the actor and the primary responsibility to do justice to the original. This courtroom-drama is, without a doubt, one of the finest remakes I’ve ever seen.
