Needa (Nizhal) Review: An Average Thriller!

Needa on AHA is a 2021 Telugu movie and a dubbed version of Nizhal starring Kunchacko Boban and Nayanthara in the primary roles with Izin Hash, Rony David, Saiju Kurup, and Divya Prabha in supporting roles. The storyline revolves around John, a judge, who struggles to recover from an accident and crosses paths with a young boy named Nitin. When Nitin’s tales about murder are determined to be true, John sets out to investigate them.

Beginning with the performances in Needa on AHA, Kunchacko Boban, the lead actor, does a decent enough with what he’s offered alongside Nayanthara in her eleventh Malayalam film outing. The supporting actors did a fairly good job, especially Izin Hash as Nitin.

And on the narrative side of things, the movie keeps an average tone of suspense throughout the runtime by disguising itself as a supernatural film. With a very decent first half, the second half offers more on the mystery side of things, but the climax does not do its fair justice to all the buildup as the film ends on an underwhelming note.

On a more positive note, the production design of Needa was extremely well presented with realistic locations, and the exquisite sceneries of Hogenakkal and Deepak D. Menon’s cinematography was remarkably great. The music by Sooraj S. Kurup was a bit cheesy with a more bland and melodramatic tone to it and did not add much style to the film.

Overall, Needa on AHA was watchable to certain extents if you have nothing else left to do. The thriller aspect of the film serves as a good evening watch on a lazy Wednesday. Watch ‘Needa’ on AHA Video here.
