Kota Factory Review: Creative and Funny!
Cast – Mayur More, Ranjan Raj, Revathi Pillai
Genre – Comedy / Drama
Streaming Platform – YouTube
Introduction
Two popular stories of teenage life were released in April and May of 2019. By comparing the reviews of both Student of the Year 2 and Kota Factory, its safe to say that the future of the film/series’ industry is in good hands. It’s impossible not to compare them because while Student of the Year 2 shows the colorful, absurd and untrue part of college life, Kota Factory excellently showcases the very essence of a normal teenager life (being a science student helps of course.)
Rationalization
Directed by Raghav Subbu from The Viral Fever, this five-episode drama series is the first black and white web series in India. The show follows the life of a 16-year-old Vaibhav, who moves to Kota from Itarsi. The show displays the actual life of students in the city, and Vaibhav’s efforts to get into IIT. The purpose of the story was to let people know that IIT preparation isn’t all about trauma and exhaustive compromises for a student.
All the characters stand out portraying different types of students and the characters Vaibhav Pandey, Balmukund Meena and Jeethu Bhaiyya were possibly one of the best performances I’ve seen lately. Most of the creative team belong to IITs and hence the graceful weaving is not a surprise. The writing, screenplay, performances, background score and the cinematography capture the innocent yet beautiful story of life at the Kota Coaching Centre.
Conclusion
Being a student going through a similar stage as Vaibhav, it’s very easy to fall in love with this web series. But, if you aren’t, then it’s evident to say that you would learn a lot about the 11th and 12th grade students after watching this. Innocent, creative, funny and graceful, Kota Factory might just be the agonizing aunt you need right now.
