Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar famously said, “Educate, Agitate, and Organize.” His ardent follower Mari Selvaraj is supposedly following it with his films. His debut film, Pariyerum Perumal, is primarily relating to educating people about the caste-based crimes and oppression still prevalent in modern-day society. His second film, Karnan, is about agitating against all the oppressions. And his next film, again with Dhanush, will complete the assumed trilogy.

Karnan from get-go represents itself as the vision of Director Mari Selvaraj and agitates against all the mistreatments. He uses the power of visual symbolism and metaphors to his benefit, which drives the film. The scenes of resistance, defense, and boldness against oppression, culminating in the gut-wrenching climax, make Karnan a profound movie. Backed by stellar music from Santhosh Narayanan and star-performer Dhanush in the titular role, Karnan is a raging cry of the voiceless, desperate to be heard. Watch ‘Karnan’ on Prime Video here.

Karnan Rating – 4/5 | Grade – A

There is a general misconception among people that remakes should be a carbon copy of the original. Makers have the liberty to tweak a little. And Vakeel Saab was the remake of Hindi-film Pink, where the protagonist was a 75-year-old lawyer, remade with a relatively younger actor with hardcore fans, the makers have to cater for their needs.

As far as I am concerned, Vakeel Saab did a decent job in remaking with keeping the core values of the original untouched. There were additional fight scenes, which people generally expect from a commercial actor like Pawan Kalyan. I noticed several dialogues and scenes added to boost the star’s political career. Nevertheless, it would be boring to see the same story without any changes in three different languages. Vakeel Saab definitely spiced it up. Watch ‘Vakeel Saab’ on Prime Video here.
